Aamir to Play Rancho in 3 Idiots (business of cinema )

Mumbai: Aamir Khan’s character in his forthcoming film 3 Idiots is named Rancho. The film is directed by Rajkumar Hirani and is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel Five Point Someone.

However, there is no character by the name Rancho in the book. The three IIM students in the novel are named Alok, Hari and Ryan. The film stars Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi. It is not known which of these actors will essay the characters from the novel. However, Khan mentioned, “I am playing Rancho in the film.”

When queried as to which character from the book he is portraying, Khan said, “I haven’t read the book, so I don’t know which character I am portraying.”

He further added, “Only a basic premise of the movie is based on the book. Hirani has made something totally different out of the book. The movie is not exactly the same as the book.”

Khan and Kapoor shot a 20-day schedule in Ladhak in September for 3 Idiots. The movie is produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and presented by Big Pictures.
