Prateik Babbar, who’s doing Dhobhi Ghat — Kiran Rao’s debut film as director, apparently got the role on Aamir Khan’s recommendation.

While seeing the rushes of Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, Aamir recognised his potential and suggested the young actor’s name to wife Kiran. Screen tests and consultations followed before Prateik was finalised as one of the lead actors.

Then… Kiran hesitated, because the role was challenging and physically demanding and required Prateik to build his lanky body upto a certain level. That’s when Aamir stepped in again and assured Kiran that he would ensure Prateik had the required physique by the time she started shooting.
Prateik refused to give away anything about his role, but admitted. “Aamir suggested a regime which I am following and I do work out with him, as he has a really well-equipped gym that he has made at home.”
