Aamir’s direct to direct two back-to-back films

Films are No one killed Jessica and Never Mind

Rajkumar Gupta

Aamir (2008) director Rajkumar Gupta is ready to direct two films back-to-back. Gupta, who shot to sudden fame with actor Rajeev Khandelwal’s launch-pad Aamir, is looking at something not done before and steps into a different territory now.

Talking about his new film, Gupta reveals, “I’m making a film titled No One Killed Jessica. It is what I would put in the ‘dramatic thriller’ genre.”

Aamir did not have a female lead, and Gupta promises that No One Killed Jessica will have two-three powerful female characters. Jokes Gupta, “I am making up for not having a female lead in Aamir.”

Gupta says no one has been cast for the film yet. But for his next film, titled Never Mind, Gupta has John Abraham in mind.

Says Gupta, “I decided on John while I was assisting Anurag Kashyap for No Smoking (2007), which starred John. Never Mind is slated to be a big Bollywood film. It will be an action-adventure.”

So will No One Killed Jessica star Rajeev again? Says Gupta, “Rajeev and I have decided not to work together for the next couple of films.

A still from Aamir

We are taking a break from each other! I believe Rajeev needs to explore how it is to work with other directors. Similarly, I’ll experiment working with other talented actors from the industry.

Even in the so-called commercial cinema there’s incredible talent. I don’t want to be typecast as an avant-garde filmmaker.”

“No One Killed Jessica will be produced by UTV and will be shot this winter in Delhi,” adds Gupta.
