6 MOVIES OF PRIYANKA CHOPRA IN 6 MONTHS!

Priyanka Chopra, who debuted with Anil Sharma’s magnum opus, The Hero, went on to become one of the most successful actresses of Bollywood! She has lots of hits in her kitty-Mujhse Shaadi Karoge, Aitraaz, Waqt, Bluffmaster, Krrish and Don! After the unsuccessful Salaam-E-Ishq and disastrous Big Brother last year, she went completely missing. The reason was that she was working round the clock for as many as 6 films, and all these films will hit the screens this year, 2 of them have already released. What is surprising is that in just a short span of six months, all of her movies will hit the screens!

Her first movie of the year was Love Story 2050. It was Harman Baweja’s launch vehicle but since the film was not upto the mark and it was released with Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na which proved to be a major competitor, the film failed at the BO! The losses were huge since the movie was made a on a high budget. Her second flick, God Tussi Great Ho, which hit the theatres last Friday (August 15) have been applauded and loved by most of the moviegoers. However, again, the competition in the form of Bachna Ae Haseeno has resulted in low collections for the film. Her third flick, Chamku, opposite Bobby Deol looks interesting. But the film has hardly generated any excitement and will be a flop at the BO for sure.

However, it’s the last three movies which I feel would work at the BO! Drona, releasing on October 2, also has Abhishek Bachchan as the main lead. The promos look great, but looking at them seems as if it’s a Hollywood flick. The typical Bollywood element is missing in it. But though, the movie is expected to take a great start at the BO thanks to its right time of release (Ramzan Id) and if the movie is nice, it would definitely do a great job at the BO.

15 days after Drona, another Priyanka Chopra flick is scheduled for release-Fashion! Directed by the great director Madhur Bhandarkar, Fashion is one of my most awaited flicks of the year. It also has the talented Kangana Ranaut and its first look was quite exciting! However, the film is going to be released with a biggie, Karzzzz and just a week before the Diwali releases-Billoo Barber (*ing Shahrukh Khan, Irrfan Khan; directed by Priyadarshan) and Roadside Romeo (Yash Raj Film’s animated flick). All this may affect the film to a great extent. However, if one of these flicks gets postponed, then the film has a better chance.

And the final movie of Priyanka Chopra this year is Dostana (see the pic). Produced by Karan Johar and directed by Tarun Mansukhani, it also has Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham. The promos were bizarre but interesting wherein Abhishek and John pretend to be gay! Priyanka looks supercool and the film looks like a sure-shot hit. Such a film is releasing on Children’s Day-14 November!!

7 MOVIES IN 2 WEEKS!

Get ready to have a choice of 4 movies this weekend and 3 movies for the next weekend. The 4 movies releasing this week are Phoonk, Mumbai Meri Jaan, Maan Gaye Mughall-E-Azam and My Friend Ganesha 2! Out of these, Phoonk has the maximum chance to score at the BO. The scary promos and Ramu’s ‘Dare To Watch Alone’ challenge have created hype for the film. Maan Gaye Mughall-E-Azam’s promos look idiotic to an extent but may turn out to be thoroughly entertaining. Mumbai Meri Jaan looks the best of all these flicks. Directed by Nishikant Kamat and produced by UTV Motion Pictures, this film is based on the 2006 Mumbai Train Blasts. Looks like a powerful thought-provoking saga-something which I am not going to miss! And My Friend Ganesha 2 is going to bomb at the BO for sure! First of all, I don’t feel there was any need for a sequel since the first part wasn’t a big box office hit, nor it was good product. And My Friend Ganesha 2 is been released without any promotion. A flop for sure!

Next week will see the release of Rock On!!, Hijack and Chamku! Rock On!! has the chance to shine at the BO (provided it’s a well made film) since the promos and music has already been a hit. Hijack looks more interesting than Rock On!! to me! It has an impressive star cast (Shiney Ahuja and Esha Deol) and the promos promise some excellent action-packed drama! Chamku, directed by Kabeer Kaushik (director of Sehar) and starring Bobby Deol and Priyanka Chopra, has failed to arouse any interest among the moviegoers. It would have a tough time at the BO for sure.

7 movies-each film of a different genre! All of them promising satisfaction to the viewers and also a wide choice for them! But it also brings a question: Is the average audience going to watch more than 1 movie in a week? Even if all the above mentioned movies get appreciation, do you feel audiences would throng the theatres to watch at least 3 or 4 of them? I, being a big movie buff, is surely going to give many of them a miss and watch only those which promises total satisfaction!

Time and again, the only advice filmmakers should be given is: Give your film a proper release date. Don’t be under the impression that your film will work and the other films wont!
