Now Manoj Kumar sues SRK for Re.1

Veteran actor upset that despite assurance from SRK, scenes he objected to were not deleted from OSO when aired on TV

SANTOSH MISHRA (MUMBAI MIRROR; August 13, 2008)

Veteran actor Manoj Kumar has slapped a case on actor Shah Rukh Khan, his wife Gauri, and director Farah Khan for defaming him.

The compensation he has sought? A token Re 1.

Manoj Kumar, through his advocate on Tuesday, filed a case against SRK, Gauri and Farah in the Metropolitan Magistrate’s Andheri Railway mobile court.

Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Nagesh Mishra, advocate for Manoj Kumar said, “We wrote to SRK and Red Chilli, the makers of the film Om Shanti OM, and asked them to delete the scenes objected to from the film before it was screened on television.

“SRK wrote back and agreed to do so. However, when the film was screened on television, it had the scenes which were objected to by Manoj Kumar. Now, SRK has given the explanation that he is not concerned with the editing of scenes, as the producer of the film is Red Chill Entertainment, which is not fair,” Mishra said.

“Considering SRK’s attitude, we have sought from the court that he should pay Manoj Kumar Re 1 as compensation for damage to his image. We have filed a petition against SRK, Gauri and Farah under sections 420 for cheating, 499 and 500 for defamation, 120 (B) for criminal conspiracy, 114 for aiding and abetting, and 34 for common intention of the Indian Penal Code, and the petition is under verification,” Mishra added.

  1. i don’t know what this guys wants!!!
i mean he has been ridiculed many many times on TV why he did not sue them???

  2. The verdict to cut the scenes came out a couple of days before the movie was telecast. The court should have sent the notice to the channel also.

To be on a safer side, Red Chillies should have intimated the channel about the verdict in written to stay away from any further controversies.

BTW, we know that during the making of the movie he was asked to go through the script but he declined. Even before the release of the movie he was asked to see the movie but he again said it’s okay. After the release of the movie, SRK and Farah apologised and he told Farah, “Betiyaan maafi nahin maangti.”

But after 6-7 months, he suddenly realises again that his image has been tarnished. He is getting on the nerves now. He is acting too childish.

Now, everyone in India knows that Manoj has an objection about the scene. Everyone also knows that SRK and Farah has apologised to him too. So his purpose to get back his honour is already achieved. Why so much fuss, now???

Plus, so many laughter shows and stand up comedian are also denigrating his honour (according to his beliefs), why doesn’t he sue them all.
