God Tussi Great Ho - A simple & sober film but again inspired!
As you may have guessed the movie is inspired from Jim Carrey’s “Bruce Almighty”. But keeping that fact aside, the movie is a simple, sober and clean flick which also has a sweet message to give. In other words its a well adapted movie which is not great, but still good for a family evening. “Bruce Almighty” sticks to its comedy theme throughout but “GTGH” shifts its emphasis from comedy to social issues too. Therefore it cannot be called as a complete comic entertainer.
The film starts slowly and takes too much time to settle down. The director should have come to the main theme of “God” much earlier, but instead he introduces this plot just before the interval. The movie could be more enjoyable if the script was based on this single plot with some more comedy sequences.
The story revolves around a plot in which God gives Salman the powers to run the world for ten days. And then Salman does what he thinks will be good for all, but messes it up. The first half of the movie is all predictable with repeated scenes seen many times before. The novel theme comes too late which is the major drawback of the movie. After “The God’s” entry, it picks up and that makes the second half much better than the first.
Performance wise Salman Khan plays his part convincingly. But Priyanka is just there in the film as the leading lady. Though they both look good together in their scenes and songs. The chemistry between Sohail & Salman was quite similar to “Hello Brother” and it entertains in some scenes. Amitabh Bachhan as “The God” looks very descent and elegant. In fact no other actor comes to your mind who can play “The God” dressed in white suits, other than Amitabh. All the comic actors in the movie (like Rajpal Yadav) have very few funny lines to offer which makes you feel asking for more. It can be said that everyone has acted his part well but the script is too simple to give any one an opportunity to stand out.
Music department only comes with one good song, “Aa Chalti Kya” and all other songs are below average. Songs in the second half were not needed at all as they slow down the pace of the movie. Special Effects are also ok and don’t go over the board. But it was a little strange to see that “The God” chooses to meet Salman, through the unexisting floor of a five star hotel.
The direction is very simple and the director keeps shifting between the comedy and social track in the second half. It could have been executed in a far better way. The best part of the movie comes in the last 40 minutes where the narration is inspired from Hrishikesh Mukherjee kind of cinema. Interestingly it made me remember one old Hrishikesh Mukherjee film “Naukri” starring Rajesh Khanna, where he meets an angle, who shows him the real world (which was also an inspired one).
Another impressive part of the movie is the message it gives in the last minutes. That makes you feel good about what you have in life and teaches you to be contented always with whatever you get from your life & “God”.
So, its not a great movie and gets only average marks. But it is a cute, clean, family movie which can be enjoyed in the festive weekends. It lacks the content of becoming a hit or blockbuster.

As “Bachan Ae Haseeno” is getting mixed responses, this should benefit “God Tussi Great Ho” and Salman in the festive weekend.
But it will remain an average earner.
I Doubt on it becoming a major Hit.
I have not seen GTGH yet..but i have seen BAH…I have also keenly watching its reviews & performance & box office collection and i feel that it will become superhit..I am sure that BAH will revive the pride of prestigious YRF.
well bobbysingh…i m waiting for yr BAH review…
it opens big…and ppl will deff go for Ranbir…i have heard he is good again…!!! ppl r loving him…!
OSO vs Saawariya was diff case OSO was better and Saawariya was slow…
Amitabh Bachchan is just torturing people with His Movies. And good thing is that now His Fan Following is at All Time Low. Even his Loyal Fans like Arun, Rizwan, Vijay, etc has shifted their Loyalties towards Akshay Kumar. They have left Amitabh because He is no longer Watchable.
Neither GOD TUSSI GREAT HO, nor BAHH seem to me something very much interesting, BAH looks like only for youth, like JTYJN, and far to speak of this film, GOD,,,, Salman, as usual it may be an ok film, or might be an average. Well, Salman Khan shouldn’t complain to GOD, in fact he should complain to his parents and brothers, and flatterer friends, why they don’t guide him in the right way or right directions. And I don’t think so that he is ever going to change, not at least for SRK, and after this event and this Shirish Kunder bonding SHAH RUKH KHAN should and must must stop trusting even his closest friends as well. And friends you are so intelligent to understand who I mean, when I say closest friends.
Anyone pretending friend and they can misbehave. Now the world is really different, Its not same as it was, I am talking about generally. And Salman Khan is ??????????
BAH is not interesting but its fresh as far as i heard…!
JTYJN worked big time and was totally different from BAH…!!!
Ranbhir already has a fan base greater than Big B and Salman.
@mustafa
looks like you are torturing yourself more whenever you see any article on Amitabh….
I think the article was about the Movie not Amitabh. As Amitabh was in the Movie that is why I passed a comment. And going by the Audience Feedback they have not liked Amitabh at all as usual. One guy said to my Friend when will Amitabh stop torturing us and in this dicussion every one joined my Friend who were in the Cinema Hall. Just goes to show people were not enjoying the Movie and Amitabh.
Akki u r the real king of bollywood yeh SRK to bakri ka bacha hai yeh king nahi ho sakta Akshay has certainly come up the ladder of success, he is one man who can be versatile…be it a punjabi jaat…to a don…he knows how to win hearts…and moreover he lives upto the fact that he is here to entertain people and not make them cry in his movies coz people pay good price to watch his movies and kill the stress…he is a very thoughtful guy in that case..reaching the heart of masses and classes. He is King in true sense. Cheer! For those of you who think srk is still the King, think again!
He is no longer the King. You can just get this out of your head, Coz Akshay is the new King, without doubts!
Srk works with big banners and promots heavily on media, thats why he was the King. Whereas Akshay works with everyone, he is versatile, he makes four or five films per year, he can do any genres, he doesnt use media like srk and still he rocks at the box office!
So, think again? Who should be the King? Akshay or Srk? Anybody with a sense will say it must be Akshay.
Furthermore, the number of super films Akshay has lined up will surely take him way way higher than srk, for sure.
If you still think Akki is not the King then you can just wait and see…….
Yeah, once upon a time SRK was a force to reckon with…but his kingdom has fallen for sure…..and without kingdom he is a king without any name, clout, followers……to console his admirers i just say…with time everything changes….CHANGE IS WTH WORD for you guys..
I think in one way its gud for the indian industry to have diversity in the movies and influential figures like Amitabh, SRk, Akshay, Amir, Salman, Hrithik….in the end it helps the industry to expand and win hearts all over the world….
With very impressive films for past few years, AKSHAY has proven time and again that he is the boss of the boxoffice…..no matter whom he is working with, he is sure to pull crowds into theatre across the globe….Its time that we give him his dues…..bcoz for long he has been unsung….for long he has not been given due recognition…
He is the change and He is the relief from very melodramatic, emotion jaggering lavish films….He is the laughter and He is the force….No wonder only blinds cannot see him but others are joining and cheering him……accolades are only for him….
King Kumar, gud luck to you!! sharukh the fallen hero!
