Who Is The King?
After the mega opening of Singh Is Kinng there is much attention by the trade and media to who is the king of the industry, King Khan or King Kumar. Both actors stand head and shoulders above the pack today and the media and trade is split as to who is No1.
The jury is still out but at the moment but it seems Akshay Kumar has edged ahead in India after Singh is Kinng while Shahrukh Khan remains ahead on a worldwide basis. Both actors have big releases coming in the next few months which could make a difference.
The jury may be out still to decide on the king actor but there is no such thing as far as directors are concerned. Anees Bazmee is the undisputed king as far as direction is concerned. Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Singh Is Kinng’ had a fantastic opening and the producers’ cash register is ringing. The actor, who plays a happy-go-lucky Sikh in the romantic comedy, is overwhelmed by the response.’I’m very happy for the film. It is doing well and I thank people for appreciating my film,’ Akshay told the media.Released Friday, ‘Singh Is Kinng’ was distributed with over 2,000 prints worldwide. Made with a budget of Rs.500 million, it has so far grossed Rs.600 million worldwide. In India, the gross collection figure touched about Rs.500 million.
On Monday evening, the cast and crew of the film uncorked the bubbly to celebrate the film’s success at a five-star hotel in Mumbai. The film revolves around a rustic, gullible and accident-prone Punjabi boy, played by Akshay who teams up with Katrina Kaif in the film. The duo gave two hits last year - ‘Namastey London’ and ‘Welcome’.
According to Studio 18, the movie’s world distributor, the collections overseas stood at Rs.150 million, the highest being in Britain where it earned approximately 490,280 pound over the weekend.
Akshay Kumar is unstollable. Now, that his latest venture Sing Is King has been declared a hit, the new Punjabi ‘King’ has moved much closer to the No 1 position and his market price has soared manifold

You are absolutely right, its not like any films popular songs are being played again and again. Like OSO’s * AANKHO MAIN TERI AJAB SI *.. so, I don’t whats happening with media? Because like film JAB WE MET, the songs of the films were being played. But what on earth has made them say that this film is blockbuster, And Akshay is getting over awareness about himself, so, he said somewhere, * Here comes KHATRON KA KHILARI, SINGH IS KIINNG.* While none of the KHANS or even HRITHIK ever made themselves feel in front of the media or public that * like for example here we come, what rubbish? Give me one name of the film in which he has done the sober acting, doesn’t matter even if it is comedy, our lovely boy * RITESH DESHMUKS* does the comedy films, very good actor BOMAN IRANI does it and so on…. but in a way that one will like to watch it. Not feeling disgusted by it. Honestly being a very huge fan of KING KHAN, but even if someone who is not, they don’t like the attitude of Akshay. AK with one SIK cannot be king. I really dont understand the people of India and media.
On one side there is a person who is delivering superhits since 1992-93 (SRK), he has 7 movies in top 10 world wide grossers, his last two movies were blockbusters, he is also voted for sabse favorite star consistently, he is in IPL, in adds, in functions… just about everywhere.. but still his performance is a top notch.

AB was No. 1 till 1991 ‘coz BOI says so. (despite the fact that from 1985-91 only two of his films were hits, and one of them was a multistarrer). But SRK is not NO.1 despite the fact that BOI says so. (and his last 2 films were blockbusters, last 4 films were hits).
DDLJ, KKHH, OSO were hits ‘coz of heroines. But Chupke Chupke, SOAL, Veer Zaara were hits ‘coz of AB.
Filmfare Award is not genuine if SRK wins, but it becomes genuine if AB or for that matter anyone else wins.

Whereas Australia(SRK) has a break right now and will only play on dec 12. They had a fantastic tour last year and a year before, which they won 2-0 against South africa(SLB) and 3-0 against Pak, SL and NZ.

Action comedy Singh is Kinng looks to be heading straight for the record books after earning £7.34m in worldwide ticket sales last weekend - believed to be the highest return for a Bollywood film in history.

The film starring Askshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, is backed by The Indian Film Company (IFC), which owns the worldwide distribution rights and was released to 1,700 screens across India, USA, Canada, UAE and the UK.
Its success in the UK propelled it to 7th position in the UK TOP 10, an index which includes the latest Hollywood releases.
IFC may have also broken another record by selling the film’s music rights to Junglee Music, a division of the Times of India Group for a limited period in a £1.32m deal. This is thought to be a record breaking valuation for a film soundtrack in India.
