B.O. update: Unprecedented, unparalleled, unheard of start for ‘SIK’
The much-awaited SINGH IS KINNG has arrived like a thunderstorm. The craze for the film was evident last night, when paid previews across the nation were performed and the response was electrifying. Friday morning too opened to an overwhelming response. The morning and noon show collections everywhere, in Punjab, Rajasthan, C.P. Berar, Delhi-U.P., Nizam, Bengal, everywhere has been terrific. The distributors of all these circuits personally spoke to this writer and each of them was ecstatic, jumping with joy.
SINGH IS KINNG has had the widest release ever for a Hindi film. It has opened at 1700 screens worldwide [as per Studio 18], 1400 in India and 300 in Overseas. The opening weekend, as things stand now, should be in the range of Rs. 23cr. to Rs. 25 cr. nett in India and the first week should close at Rs. 42 cr. to Rs. 45 cr. nett in India. All signs of a Blockbuster!
Meanwhile, the film had a stupendous start in U.K. last night, when paid previews were held. The film collected close to £ 60,000 on Thursday night. Fabulous!

Yes it has chace becuase it is released in may be in 25 % higher prints.Since the openeing seems to be good it might cross the figures told by BOI
OSO opening weekend collection was 22 cr.
Plus, SIK has no competition unlike OSO.
Everything will depend on how it fares after the intial hype (read first weekend) is over.
Before the movie started one could feel the excitement in the hall with all the whistles, shouting and claps. But all went calm slowly and no one was excited enough as the last credits were rolling. There were mammoth expectations from Akshay Kumar in the role of a Sikh and coming up with a solid title “Singh is King” raised those expectations to the highest level. But sadly the film fails to satisfy even half of what was expected.

generally i dont trust Taran Adarsh.I only trust BOI which is a unbiaesd site.
Although even BOI is also talking about a fantastic opening,we have to wait for the BOI figures.

1) has no respect for his elders, look at what he did with MANOJ KUMAR??? If he had any respect this would not have happened. He would have atleast asked him first for permission. Amitabh on the other hand has immense respect for his elders like dilip kumar etc. I think its the upbringing of srk, he thinks its funny and does not realise it hurts other people!
2) He takes pot-shots at other stars, espeically AKSHAY. he has been taking digs at him since the last 2 years. AKSHAY will have the last laugh when his singh is king will shatter all opening week records.
3) No respect for newcomers. WHen Saawariya was about to release he said, MY FILM WILL DESTORY THEM!! I mean where is the respect. SRK has no manners and deserves to be HATED….How can he say this about a film with newcomers???
4) Matlabi insaan. Ask SALMAN KHAN. He only uses people when he needs them thats the reason why he said no to salman khan. I wish salman had slapped him. SRK is just a money maker and a user who will use situations to his benefit. He forgets the favours people do for him.
5) Publicity seeker. Look at the way he went to the pakistan v india final and wearing a top of OSO. Has he no shame??? Everyone knows he was promoting his film but he to this day denies it. He used the INDIA PAKISTAN FINAL as a national platform to advertise his film!
6) Making fun of directors and producers at award cermonies. Vinod Chopra, Saanjay leela bhansalai, RGV.
7) Trying to sabotage other people. He tried to sabotage Amitabhs shows by doing a show at rotterdam and wanted to do more shows but did not have the GUTS. He knew if he did his evil intentions would be bare for all to see.
The day when YASH CHOPRA and KARAN JOHAR dump him it will be finito for him.

As expected Singh Is Kinng has taken a humungous opening at the box office this morning but what has surprised all is what is happening at various cinema halls across the country.
At Swabhani cinema in Kolkata for Thursday evening you had the crowd dancing and cheering in the theatre while waiting for the show to begin. The craze in Kolkata is amazing. “Its absolute hysteria” says Vikas Syal general manager of Inox Forum in Kolkata.
There were a huge group of college students dancing to Bhootni Ke before the first show at Chitra Cinema in Amravati.
In Pune, there was havoc as crowds danced on their seats to Jee Karda. These sort of instances are happening all over from Punjab to Kolkata to Bihar to Hyderabad
Honestly speaking if these reports are true it is truly great to see. It can only shatter records if all is true.
My idea of a huge star is one who must at one point in his career break records in some shape or form. If SIK does it, then its absolutely true in any sense, that Akshay Kumar is a top star - not behind anyone, but I can categorically say he is ahead of SRK or Aamir or Hrithik too. He is there with them. It took some time to change my opinion, but it was only about setting an important milestone which SIK looks like doing now

SIK’s opening is a matter of supply and demand. Recently, apart from JTYJN, most films bombed badly, some even performed more poorly than Sakar Raj (a really terrible movie). Given the pent up demand, and high print count of SIK, a good opening is not surprising.
Ofcourse these days, Akshay is also a huge star (he deserves his success). Akshay’s status also helps.
Nonetheless the film will NOT BE A SUPER DUPER BLOCKBUSTER. The content is missing.
