GOWARIKER:JA DVD WILL HAVE SCENES OF BIRBAL

“It’s an area which hasn’t been given enough focus,” he said of children’s films.
“This organisation is not about making movies for children, but about giving them an exposure to international cinema made for children.”
Gowariker, who has seen several children’s films from Iran, Slovakia and Japan, said that he even thinks of his own Lagaan as “a children’s movie.”
According to him, any film which has been given an U certificate by the censors and can be “understood and enjoyed by kids” is a children’s film.
‘Jodhaa-Akbar’ premieres on television on August 15. Its DVD is also scheduled for release this month. Gowariker points out that the DVD will have scenes with Birbal which were deleted from the version released at the cinema halls.
“This should satisfy those who looked for Akbar’s famous darbar courtier in the film and didn’t find him. I knew he would have to be edited out even while I was shooting,” Gowariker admits.
Birbal, portrayed by Indrajit Sarkar, could not fit into a film that was very lengthy already. The DVD will include two 15-minute scenes between the characters of Akbar and Birbal.
