The Most Awaited movies of 2008

With all eyes on Bollywood, and a whole slew of movies due for release, Bollywood Hungama took up the challenge to chart what are likely to be the biggest blockbusters of 2008. The analysis took the form of an extensive survey (from 18th to 26th July) conducted online amongst those who really matter - the consumers. Spanning regions as diverse as India and South-East Asia to the European Union and USA-Canada, the user had to select his/her 5 most anticipated movies. To ensure complete transparency and accuracy, a three level authentication check with email validation, cookie check and IP mapping was put into place.
The hot list of the Most Awaited Movies of 2008* truly proved to be the voice of the masses, garnering an overwhelming response. A 9-day survey, conducted between 18th July to 26th July, the poll saw 17,11,254 valid responses. Results were compiled based on votes from 67 countries - countries which constitute about 98% of revenue towards Bollywood releases.
The poll threw up several interesting results generating quite a buzz in the industry.

1. For the first time in the last four years, a movie from Yash Raj Films has failed to make it to the no.1 rank.2. The movie which has grabbed the no.1 spot is Ghajini. It is no.1 across all the regions except UK. Of late, the brand Aamir Khan is synonymous with quality and this reflects in the numero uno position.
3. Akshay Kumar, SRK and Salman Khan have two movies each in global Top 10. Similarly Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra have two movies each in the global Top 10. |
* Bollywood Hungama (earlier www.indiafm.com) has been conducting polls annually to determine the movies which are awaited the most or have a high level of public awareness and interest. The survey does not reflect or tend to predict the performance of the movie at the box office.

Q. Do you think Yarshraj films are losing their touch, they have had all flops over the last year and Bachna Ae Haseeno and Rab De Bana Di Jodi have a feeling of been there done that.
Ans. Bachna Ae Haseeno will be a huge success while Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is likely to set record totals for all revenues from Indian theatrical to Overseas theatrical to music to satellite. It is likely to be biggest grosser ever in India and Overseas so YRF are just going through a bad patch but with Bachna Ae Haseeno and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi that patch will be over.

@the poll:this is all rubbish with all respect due indiafm..but the hype around any film before its release (like SIK now + BAH) and the kind of promos+PR is the real descision maker and not this polls…besides its too early to judge for films like ghanji and Rab ne since the promos aint there yet..both will release end of this year..i think promos of ghanji wouldnt help the film to pull the crowds to theaters but vice versa since it would be a dark film (darker than SR????) :s…i think the perfect timing to release entertainment movies is the end of the year and not dark movies..
There was another poll in which apart from UK everywhere tashan was the most anticipated movie. But it turned out to be a dud. So i don’t think ghajini will live up to its expectations. As far as the KING is concerned he has always broke his own records and I am sure the KING will break OSO’s record.

Aamir Khan punked out, he changed the date for Ghajhni to Nov. 28 from Dec. 12.
always there is talk about srk movies before they release.some will say that it do well and some will say that it it go down.but srk has always deliver wheather u like it or not……and rab ne banade jodi is not different.he will again do it like he does so often…and if u dont believe it then just read the box office collection after two weeks of its release………..got it

Yesteryear actor Manoj Kumar on Tuesday filed a case against actor Shah Rukh Khan, Producer and Director Farah Khan and Sony Entertainment Television seeking to delete a scene from the movie Om Shanti Om .
Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan had earlier assured Kumar that the scene, which makes fun of him, would be deleted from the movie.
However, this did not happen and the movie was screened in all theatres without the deletion of the scene.
Kumar has now approached the Sessions Court seeking a stay on the telecast of the movie, which is to be aired on August 10 on Sony Entertainment Television.
The matter will come up for hearing on Wednesday.
It was imminent. Good for Manoj Kumar.
These things will hardly affect SRK.
