India’s top film stars have hit Hollywood as part of an epic global set of shows.
Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan heads up The Unforgettable Tour, which is set to play at the O2 Arena next month. The cast will be joined in the London leg by Shilpa Shetty.
Speaking at a press conference in LA, Amitabh’s son Abhishek joked that so far on the tour “the airlines have been forgettable” after apparently losing half the cast’s bags.
Actress Preity Zinta promised that by the time the show reaches England, fans should be in for a treat. “I think London is very lucky because by the time we come there we’ll have done at least 10 shows so we’re gonna be with it, there’s gonna be no goof ups!” she said.
Ritiesh Deshmukh joked he was not quite ready to find out how big the audience will be at the London venue, saying: “I have no idea what the O2 looks like, so when I enter there I’ll let my nerves take over then.”
Madhuri Dixit, guest starring on the US shows only, said Shilpa’s guest appearance in the UK should be exciting: “She’s such a sweet person, I’ve known her for some time and she’s wonderful, she’s marvellous and she just knows what to do.”
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan said the tour shows a much wider audience is embracing Indian cinema.
“The Western audiences are already very aware of our films and that’s really a reflection of society as it is today, the world is smaller and the audience is a lot more international,” she said.
Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan’s Unforgettable tour has worked out to be just that — unforgettable for him - and he has thanked the media and his fans, especially in San Francisco, for its grand success.
“Thank you press and thank you San Francisco. You guys made our night and day and many many days and years impossible to forget!” the actor said in a latest post on his blog http://www.bigb.bigadda.com on Tuesday.
After his show, Big B felt the response from fans as well as the media had been unique.
“It is rare for the media to spend half an hour praising the principals they are about to grind before a meet, but that is exactly what happened. They had not seen anything like this in the last 20 years. Wow!” he posted.
Amitabh who was caught up with his tour had little time to describe his last two shows and wrote: “I am rushing to catch a flight now to New York, so I will not be able to spend much time in describing the last two shows, but as soon as I get an opportunity I shall.”
The actor concluded: “I am desperately trying to post some photos just to give you (readers) an idea of what we are experiencing. It is a madness I have not witnessed in years.”
He later added pictures of him, his son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya performing before a euphoric crowd in San Francisco.
Bachchan has been performing on the tour with his son and daughter-in-law as well as several Bollywood actors including Madhuri Dixit, Preity Zinta and Riteish Deshmukh.

An ‘Unforgettable’ Bollywood show in San Francisco!

The Oracle Arena in San Francisco was packed to the rafters as more than ten thousand fans crammed in for what was to be truly an ‘Unforgettable’ Bollywood experience.
An unabated excitement filled the air as fans sauntered in for the San Francisco leg of ‘The Unforgettable Tour’, which is helmed by the Bachchans and also features the Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit (for the US concerts). This correspondent of ApunKaChoice attended the concert and is witness to the scintillating performances and the euphoria of the rapturous San Franciscans who were left asking for more by the entertaining Bollywood stars on the evening of Sunday, July 27.
The din and noise of the excited crowd broke into a unison scream as the show began with a lively performance by Ritesh Deshmukh . Preity Zinta took over and danced and hopped around the stage with her characteristic buoyancy. But it was with the entry of Abhishek Bachchan that the crowd got charged up. Rather than coming from backstage, Abhishek decided to get close and personal with the crowd by making an entry from the rear of the auditorium, smiling, waving and shaking hands with his enthusiastic fans as he headed for an energetic performance.
After his solo act, Abhishek himself announced the next performer, and it was (no prizes for guessing) Aishwarya Rai , who was gorgeous and dazzling as ever in her dances.
Enough song and dance done, it was time for some serious message. Jaya Bachchan came on stage and made an earnest pitch for a green planet. The point being convincingly made, the evening moved on with performances by music composers Vishal-Shekhar who got everyone in the auditorium on their feet with their powerful act.
The show reached its mid-way and it was time for the ‘Big’ act to follow. Amitabh Bachchan – magnetic as always – came on stage and got the crowd mesmerized with the songs he sang live in his deep baritone. Among the songs he sang was the ever-green ‘Rang Barse’ (from ‘Silsila’) which sent the crowd in raptures. The Big B also steered the gathering into a pensive mood with his evocative recitals of dialogues from his films (like Kabhie Kabhie and Deewar ) and also the poem ‘Agnipath’ , written by his late poet father Harivansh Rai Bachchan.
Another big act of the evening was the performances by the ravishing Madhuri Dixit . Though she may have distanced herself from films of late, the diva still had that grace and charisma in her dances that got the crowd transfixed. And then there was also that talked-about union of Madhuri and Aishwarya – two of the best-lookers from Bollywood – as the two ladies performed their song ‘Dola Re’ from Devdaas .
There was also a long segment in the concert where Abhishek, Aishwarya, Preity and Ritesh paid homage to Amitabh Bachchan by performing to a medley of songs from the superstar’s films.
All in all, the concert lived up to its name and had all the glitz, gloss, glamour, bling and opulence of Bollywood. Every star regaled the audiences in their way but most taalis were reserved for the Big B and Madhuri.
The concert reached its crescendo with the final act when all the stars jived together to the powerful number Jhoom Barabar Jhoom .
I bet many San Franciscans are still reeling from the ‘Jhoom’ effect.
Again Amitabh Bachchan is upto old tricks which he has been using for many years and lately with Sarkar Raj.
The mumbai media is far away and Bachchan is feeding then crap as usual and they are falling for it. The truth about the show is below from sources who are there.
