There may have been a couple of months delay in the release of his debut directorial venture HIJACK but Kunal Shivdasani is undeterred. He believes that last few weeks have only helped the product become better with the climax turning out to be even bigger, hence turning out to be the highlight of the film.
‘We were earlier looking at arriving in the month of May but IPL changes the plans for majority of filmmakers’, says Kunal who has been an established name in the ad-world, ‘In the hindsight, it has only worked in my film’s flavor since I could sit and fine tune some rough edges. Now HIJACK is certainly coming on 29th August.’
The film’s date seems to have been well thought of since after 29th August, there aren’t many notable releases in the weeks to follow.
‘I am looking forward to HIJACK finding its audience. It is a hardcore action film and bridges the gap between Bollywood and Hollywood. Set in a Die Hard mode, HIJACK marries style and technique with a sensible script, which is the heart and soul of the film.’
The film stars Shiney Ahuja and Esha Deol in principal roles with its basic plot being centered on an airplane, which is hijacked by a group of terrorists. One of the passengers is a young girl who happens to be Shiney’s daughter. In the film’s climax, Shiney gets into the plane, foils the hijack and saves not just his daughter but also other passengers with his presence of mind and some dare devilry.
‘Mark my words, Shiney performing dare-devilry stunts is the highlight of HIJACK’, beams Kunal who has been associated with the GANGSTER hero for quite a few years, ‘Shiney has a particular image that he carries with himself, courtesy films like HAZARON KHWAHISHEN AISI, GANGSTER and KHOYA KHOYA CHAND. However, what he has done in HIJACK has surpassed everyone’s expectations. You would be surprised by what you see of him in the film.’
