Every Trade Journal has Rated Jaanat and Race as Hits or Super Hits and even some have Rated Jodha Akbar as Hit. But Ibos has different story to tell that in First Half of 2008 there is not a Hit Film. Basically this is not a Big deal because when they can Rate Om Shanti Om as Semi - Hit when most of the Trade Rated it Blockbuster or All Time Blockbuster, so no Hit in First Half of 2008 is very possible from them. It just shows there credibility which is nil. That is why I never believe this Garbage Website. But some people believe it and give it’s quotes as well. Best of luck to them, but I will not believe this Website.

2008 has had a mixed first half so far with no All India hits or clean return on investment grossers. The biggest grosser so far has been the multi-starrer Race starring Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Khanna. The biggest flop, relative to cost, has been Tashan starring Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, and Anil Kapoor; Halla Bol starring Ajay Devgan, and Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic starring Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee are the other major flops. Both TPTM and Tashan were Yash Raj Films releases which failed to take a big opening, whereas from 2004-2006, each year a Yash Raj Film had broken opening records (Veer Zaara in 2004, Bunty&Babli in 2005, Dhoom 2 in 2006).
The list of profit generating films in 1st half of 2008 include Race, Sarkar Raj, Jodha Akbar, Bhootnath, Jannat, U Me aur Hum.
The average opening in Mumbai has been over Rs. 1 cr net in first half of 2008, an improvement of around 23% from 2007, roughly consistent with collection increases from other regions.

Well RACE and Jannat are super hits, no doubt and Sarkar Raj has definitely been declared a HIT. Had it been average like Bhootnath, even that film did not find its mention in the haly yearly report card. So everyone knows that there was a deliberate attempt to sabotage the film but in vain. Khosla ka Ghosla had songs, a love angle and what is strange is that Anupam Kher is now being compared with BIG B now…that’s latest joke.

2008 Bollywood HITS
1. RACE
It’s that time of the year to evaluate the Bollywood releases, in the past six months.
We’ve seen some big banner releases like Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, Mere Baap Pehle Aap, Sarkar Raj, Bhoothnath, Tashan, U Me Aur Hum, Krazzy 4, Jodhaa Akbar, Jannat and Race. Unfortunately, only a handful have been successful at the box office. We take a look at the biggest hits of 2008, so far.
Race
Trade analysts unanimously agree that Abbas-Mustan’s Race was the top grosser of the year so far. There were a lot of things going for it. Race was a good thriller, with a lot of action and twist; the film starred stunning actresses like Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu and Sameera Reddy; and it had some of Pritam’s best music.
“It has been a very poor beginning for the year, as the industry has been slumping,” Taran Adarsh, trade analyst, says. “The industry is in a critical condition. We have had a quantum of releases but unfortunately, most of them were flops. There were few hits.”
“The industry seems to have lost direction,” Vinod Mirani, rediff.com’s trade analyst tells us. “Creativity is nil. Most films are remakes of foreign movies and badly adapted. Local distributors, who dared to invest, lost money even if the producer did not.”
2. Jannat
Emraan Hashmi’s Jannat came second on the hit list. Audiences seemed to love his boy-next-door appeal in the film. Besides, the film had a gripping second half, and a good climax. Pritam scored big on the music once again.
“Only two films sustained: Race and Jannat,” Mirani says. “Krazzy 4 did well too, despite having average content. They were feel-good, paisa vasool films.”
Taran Adarsh generously included more films in his hit list. “Race, Jannat, Jodhaa Akbar, Sarkar Raj and U Me Aur Hum were the only movies that did well because of their content and tight script,” he said.
3. Jodhaa Akbar
Ashutosh Gowariker’s historical love story, Jodhaa Akbar, could not cash in on its big star cast: Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
One of the main drawbacks was the film’s duration. If it could have been shortened by 30 minutes, it may have seen a better fate at the box office. Yet, the film can be listed in the top five hits of the year, thanks to the poor run of movies at the box office this year.
“The industry this year has been worst than the last,” Taran says. “The rise in inflation has increased ticket prices, so people don’t want to buy a ticket worth Rs 200, only to watch a flop film like Haal-E-Dil, Khushboo and Jimmy.”
4. Sarkar Raj
Ram Gopal Varma seemed to want to revive his sinking career with Sarkar Raj, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The film had a good story, great performances and excellent cinematography by Amit Roy. And that seemed to work for the audience.
“This year, movies flopped because of bad scripts and content,” Adarsh says. “The biggest flop would be Tashan, which broke the all-time low record of Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag. After that was Jimmy, the debut of Mithun Charkraborty’s son Mimoh, and then, Kumar Mangat’s daughter Amita Pathak’s launch in Haal-E-Dil.”
Komal Nahta, trade analyst and editor of Film Information claims that there are many good films to watch out for this year like Pokhiri, Ghajini, Singh Is Kinng and Rab Ne Bana De Jodi.
5. Khuda Kay Liye
No one expected Pakistani low-budget film, Khuda Kay Liye, to do well at the Indian box office. Even though the film did not feature big stars, it did quite well.
So why have there been no big hits in 2008 yet? Are we missing the Khans on the marquee?
“It’s not because there was no Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan or Aamir Khan release.” Adarsh explains. “If that was the case, we would not have had a hit in Jannat. Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman do not weave a magic wand. It is the film that works, the subject, music, treatment and emotions.”
“Movies like Aamir were critically acclaimed. But then, movies are made for masses, not for multiplex audience. And the masses want entertainment,’ Komal Nahta concludes.
Arun no Trade has Declared Sarkar Raj Hit. At best it is Average by Lenient Standards, while Most Trade has Declared it Flop. There was wrong Media Report going on by Sarkar Raj Team that there Movie is Hit, but the truth was out in open that they were calling a Flop Movie Hit. The Sarkar Raj Team was Exposed very Badly. Even Media Support could not make there Movie a Hit. It was 4 Consective Failure for Ram Gopal Verma after Nishbad, Aag and Darling.
Amitabh Fans were unable to accept this Fact said that it is a benchmark. What Benchmark a Flop Movie for Youngsters is a Benchmark. Basically Amitabh Fans have complex that Amitabh Films are Flopping left, right and centre and to show there insecurity they are saying it is benchmark. We understand there feeling, but we cann’t hide the truth that Sarkar Raj is Flop or by Lenient Standard Average.
First of all to make things clear Sarkar Raj is not Hit, it is Average by Lenient Standards.
Secondly Amitabh Fans are saying it is a Solo Success. How come? When Abhishek Bachchan is also in the Movie.
A Solo Amitabh Success in recent years has been Black and Cheeni Kum, which were Average and Semi-Hits Respectively. The Media projected them Hits, but by Trade Terms they were not.
Media project everything big. Take case of Devdas it was a Hit to Super Hit, but media projected it Blockbuster. Or Tashan which was Flop and media projected it biggest disaster of all time. But fact was it was just a Flop and did well in interiors.
So Taking Media seriously is wrong. Same is the case of Sarkar Raj it is Flop, but Media is projecting it Hit because Ram Gopal Verma is paying them. But if you check Trade journals it is Flop and some Trade Journals it is Average. No where Hit is mentioned and also it is not a Solo Amitabh Movie.
Even IBOS has changed the verdict of SR from Hit to Semi-hit.

Secondly as far as Jane… to was concerned although it has done well at the BO..its a not as good a movie as it is hyped here.
Its a good movie but nothing extraordinary.Its original version Tujhe meri kasam(As the Jane ..is hugley inspiredby this movie)is way better than this one.
Imran is good and have potential but he has to improve upon his physique and body langiage.
In the scenes where he runs..he looks like a female.So he has to improve upon this.For me the striking point of the movie was Pratik Babbar.
If you ask me ..the actor with superstar potential to have debuted this year is RAJEEV KHANDELWAL.
I watched the movie Aamir yesterday..this guys has some potetial.He is good looking,have good physique and more importantly, connects to the audience.
I hope he gets more chances than this so called star-son-stars.

Sarkar Raj is a Below Average at best (33 cr Nett in India was only due to good opening that was 23.50 cr), Otherwise it was a throughout rejection from the audience, fell in business more than 70% in every forthcoming week. Trendwise Sarkar Raj is a big big Disaster, technicaly it’s a “Below Average to Flop”.

And the Copying thing is started by Amitabh Bachchan. Shah Rukh Khan started his Career on Television. When Amitabh Bachchan Failed Completely after his Comeback, he thought I should do TV. When Shah Rukh Khan can start His career from TV, why should not I.
Then Shah Rukh Khan did Temptations in 2004 which was a Smash Success. Amitabh Bachchan thought now stage shows are in why should not I do Forgettable tours.

SRK says a few things just to please the audience. It’s supposed to be a joke.
For example, he says AB is the real superstar. People with good sense of humour laugh on it. Morons like you believe that it’s true.

Secondly 1993 nobody deserved an Award more than SRK ???
I know you would tell me Sanjay Dutt for Khalnyak.But that was in the best villain nomination so as SRK in Darr.
I know the Bacchanista would always allege that SRK had purchased awards as Bacchan has not won as many Best actor awards as SRK.(jelousy personified)
But when same Bacchan wins an award,say for Black(One of the most irritating performance of all time),you guys would tell it is deserved.But the truthy this very national awrad was manipulated by Bacchan.

rajeev u say amitabh award was manipulated then you have not seen black.amitabh gave his best performance in black.i watched chakde india and thought srk desreved it and got so if you think others people point of view amitabh deserved the award for BLACK.it was not irritating performance.
It was not irritating, it was disgusting. Black is really a dark movie. The movie is based on a genuine thought but the performance of AB made the movie not to watch for the second time. In fact the performance of the little girl and Rani Mukherjee was way ahead than AB’s performance. Half of his dialogues were unable to understand (now don’t tell that intelligent ppl only can understand). He was literally shouting in the movie. And the movie was shot in a dark set. And bottom line is AB was not deserving a national award for the particular character he played.
Bachchans are doing the manipulation these days. Actually they are best in doing all this. In the next Mani ratnam movie the same boring cast is coming AB and ASH. All the best for Mani.

I have seen Black,and i had a severe headache soon after i finished watching.
Actually the movie would have been a classic without Amitabh.Amitabh messed it big time.The child (Ayesha) and Rani and all the supporting cast were marvellous in the movie.Only Amitabh was a miscast.There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that if anybody deserved a national award in the movie it was Rani and the Ayesha.Instead they gave it to Amitabh which undoubtebly one of the worst performances of Amitabh.
If this is what great acting is all about then GOD Bless Bollywood.

In Black,Amitabh was loud,his voice was not clear and his expression wooden.Infact Black is one of Amitabhs worst performances till date.

Black was as bad as Ekalavya.Both were pathetic.Infact at the end of the movie i felt cheated and felt like wasting my hard earned money.
