Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na is a clear hit, but the Love Story 2050 scenario is ambiguous as the media has ripped it apart
Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na has already been declared a super hit, and debutant Imran Khan is being already being hailed as the new chocolate hero. Though Harman Baweja star stutus is undeniable, reports about the collections of Love Story 2050 are conflicting. Saurab Varma of Adlabs assserts that contrary to reports, Love Story… has been received very well especially in the single-screens and it has done well over the weekends in the multiplexes. “Collections in small towns in India and countries like UK, USA and Dubai have been exceptionally good,” adds the distributor.
According to PVR theatre’s Ranjan Singh, Jaane Tu ..’s collections are 100 per cent at all centres while Love Story.. is 60-70 per cent in different centres. “In single screens Jaane Tu.. has fared slightly better than Love Story… the verdicts provided by the media given are short term and ultimately it is the audience which will decide the fate of the films.” Though both distributors are of the opinion that both films releasing on the same day has not had any effect on their collections as both belong to completely different genres, Trade analyst Amod Mehra insists that the films should never have released together! 
“Aamir Khan is a big name to contend with, and if Harry Baweja had released Love Story…one week earlier or after Jaane Tu…comparisons could have been avoided and the film would have fared better.”
According to him Jaane Tu.. being a hit has not come as a surprise to him or the industry as any project being associated with Aamir Khan in any capacity be it a producer, director or actor is bound to be watchable. “There were a lot of expectations from Jaane Tu.. and it has lived up to those. There were hopes from Love Story.. too as it was not a routine film and looked promising because of the special effects,” he says.
As for the debutants, Mehra proclaims, “With his good looks and superb dancing, Harman is definitely hero material, but duplicates are not appreciated by the audiences and he should try and cultivate his own style. Imran on the other hand has a freshness and his looks are endearing. But he has to pick his next films with care if he wants to carve a niche for himself in the industry.”
According to Mehra Jaane Tu… will be a blockbuster like Kaho Na Pyaar Hain and will garner bigger returns than Taare Zameen Par.

But DDLJ lost the “Best Music Award” to Rangeela. With the soundtrack of Rangeela, ARR changed the very foundation of music and lead to the change of music from olden melody type to fun fresh music which was able to cross all borders- North and South and even to THE REST OF THE WORLD (if u listen to music from Roja, Bombay, Dil Se etc, they still sound so fresh even today)…. I dont know why the Chopra havent worked with with ARR- he is extraordinary

I think there is issue b/w ARR and YRF regarding the rights of the music.
A classic example might be as A.R. Rahman was suppose to do OSO music but could not agreed as the reason he opted out of this film was that Rahman wanted the music rights to stay with the Composer and the Lyricist along with the producer, something which Farah and Shah Rukh Khan didnt agree with.
I hope this will be the main issue for which YRF is not so keen to do music with A.R. Rahman

completey agree with jenna. and inshallah this time too JTYJN, JA or upcoming A.R.Rahman movies Ghajini, Yuvraaj or Dilli 6’s music will be winning all the awards and not RNBDJ, because these music composers Jatin-Lalit (Mohabbatien and DDLJ) and Salim-Sulaiman etc just give plain ordinary music. Only A.R.Rahman gives the world class music. I really hope Chopras and Johars realize this and work with him soon, his music gives an entirely new life to the movie. And unfortunately it was SRK’s mistake that OSO could not have A.R.Rahman’s music. He had actually been signed for it but Farah Khan and SRK did not agree to give him the music rights, so he opted out and they signed Vishal-Shekhar who came up with just okay music. Here SRK forgot that A.R.Rahman brought him the best music of his entire career with Dil Se.

not necessarily, did JTYJN’s music took time to grow? no. it was an instant hit.
furthermore even if took time to grow no problem because it would have been remembered for years to come, like Dil Se, which is still as enjoybale as it was 10 years back.
the music VS gave no doubt worked for the time being but would you like to listen it now? at least I wont. it was a forgettable music. same as with DDLJ, Mohabbatein, K3G etc.

(sorry but i am finding it hard to believe SRK fired ARR- i mean, how can SRK forget that ARR gave Dil Se which everyone loved including Baz Luhrmann of “Moulin Rouge”, Andrew Lloyd Webber of musical “Bombay Dreams” fame and Spike Lee- infact Spike Lee loved Dil Se soundtrack so much that he used it for his movie “Inside Man”)
I agree with both of u that maybe the main reason why Yash camp isnt working with ARR becoz of music rights which is sad but it’s his music and he cant keep running to the music company to ask permission to use his own music for concerts (after all, it’s HIS MUSIC). This man is a legend and he deserves EVERY PENNY
Has anyone else noticed that ARR has worked the most in Aamir’s movies(Lagaan, MP, RDB, JTYJN and now Ghajni). I guess they must respect each other or Aamir has realized something about ARR that SRK didnt (but i hope SRK works with ARR agin becoz i would to hear another Dil Se again)

First of all A R Rahman winning Best Music Director for Guru is his luck, but he didn’t deserved for it. Om Shanti Om had the Best Music last year, without any doubt and it was also the Highest seller last year.
Anything A R Rahman does doesn’t mean it is good and Guru was not a good album. Except for 1 song, the album was crap. Even for Rang De Basanti He didn’t deserved best music director.

I don’t agree with you that Dil Se is Shah Rukh Khan Career Best Music. His Career Best Music is Kal Ho Naa Ho, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Om Shanti Om.
Each song of Om Shanti Om was Gem, while Guru had only one good song. Shah Rukh Khan Decision to take Vishal Shekhar was excellent and it paid of in big way as it was the Highest Seller of the year + Shah Rukh Khan Career’s Best Music ever.

ya it was only his “luck” that he won every single award given in bollywood for Guru (IIFA, Screen, Filmfare etc). what a stupid statement.
Guru was definitely the best album of the year and it would have been a pitty if he did not win all awards for it. Tere Bina, Mayya, Barso na, Jaage Hain, Aye Hairathe all tracks were mindblowing.

According to me Om Shanti Om is the Best Album of Shah Rukh Khan Career. Followed by Kal Ho Naa Ho and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
Om Shanti Om was a complete Album. Best Romantic Track “Ankhon Mein Teri”, 70’s style “Main Agar Kahoon” and Best Disco Song “Dard-E-Disco” and then other gem “Deewaangi Deewaangi” and to complete it “Dastan-E-Om Shanti Om” and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan Track. For me the Best of Shah Rukh Khan and it will take many ages to match this Album.

For me this film was nice and it did good in the box office .But i had great expectation with love story 2050 coz the promo of this film seem to be nice . And JTYJN promo actually didn’t impressed me . I first went to see JTYJN in the new york cinema i loved it . The songs are fantastic and the hscript is so far good . The acting of this guys are fabulous and then i went to see love story the first two part are really fantastic but when the intermission started i slept there i don’t know what happened . My brother and my friends were telling me we just spend money in this crack film love sto…. Instead of that we can have a party in our home . Well JTYJN is the great movie.

I agree completely with Mustafa. Guru and Rang De Basanti’s music was nothing new from AR Rahman. While Pritam copies other people, AR Rahman COPIES HIMSELF. Its the same thing in every soundtrack. The same beats in the backround of the song. Compare that with VS in OSO. It was completely new. It was also different from their last album, Cash. If anyone wants to argue with me, I’m ready.

KHNH, K3G and KANK soundtrack all sound alike (”Shava Shava” sounds like “Rock n roll soniye”, “It’s the Time to disco” sounds like “Where’s the party tonight). And ARR won all the awards for RDB and also won awards over VS for Guru- that says alot
One cant deny ARR’s music has worldwide appeal. Not any music director has been able to achieve that. Two of RDB soundtrack along with Lagaan’s were tracks considered for the Academy Award nomination. Bombay Them Music was used in Nicholas Cage “Lord of War. Dil Se Soundtrack made ARR famous (”Chaiya Chaiya” was used for “Inside Man”) and it had a musical based on it (London Dreams)
When all other directors rejected “Chaiya Chaiya” telling Sukhwinder Singh that it was too Sufi-oriented, ARR accepted the challenge and looked what happened (that song broke all records made Sukhwinder an overnight star)

Look at JA and Guru. If ones music was in anothers movie, no one could tell the difference. I will not deny that AR Rahman is world famous. But how come his movie soundtracks do not have the most sales in any year? AR Rahman deserved awards for his earlier movies, Roja and Rangeela, but NOT for crap like RDB and Guru. He won those awards because his name was associated with it. One group of music directors that deserve awards are Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. JTYJN is now number one, but wait for a few months, Jenna, RNBDJ and BAH and SIK(even though it sucks) will rule the charts and one of those three will have the most sales this year. Definnately not JA or Ada or JTYJN or Delli 6, or the other movies AR Rahman composes for this year.

Yes Jane tus music grew with time.It was not a instant hit as you were talking.It gathered momentum only after the movie got released.same is the case with all most all Rehman musisc.
JA s music though was good but not good enough to be remembered for a long time.
I belive DDLjs music one of the most complete albums of all time.Same with Rangeela .
But as far as Guru is concerned ,i dont think Rehman deserved the award.It should have gone to Either Pritam or Vishal -Sekhar.
If you check the Music sell recors you would realise ,inspite of rehman being a genius ,his music are never chartbusters.

well i watched the movie yesterday…..but sorry 2 say it wasn’t that great as i read in reviews….v ordinary story but script was held tight with v good direction n good performances..makes it a good movie but not great in anyway….may be it will becum a blocky bt seriously it wasn’t upto expectations….
