Jaane tu…beats 2050 in opening too!

It was a fight to the finish between Aamir Khan’s Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na and Harman Baweja’s Love Story 2050. Makers of both the films were on tenterhooks and both films launched newcomers. We spoke to the owners of some multiplexes, marketing heads and trade analysts to figure out which way the trade winds were blowing.
Devang Sampat, spokesperson of Cinemax (Andheri) was frank and forthcoming. He said, “Jaane Tu… has opened better. Love Story started around 50 per cent in the morning show but it has picked up now.
By the end of the day, I expect Jaane Tu… to register 90 per cent collections while Love Story 2050 will settle at around 65 per cent. I think the public is more attracted to Jaane Tu… because it is a collegian film.”
Harshvardhan Gangurde (marketing head, Inox) said rather diplomatically, “As a multiplex, we are quite okay with both the films. It is difficult to quantify at this point, but yes, Jaane Tu… has an edge.”

Manoj Desai, owner of Gaiety-Galaxy, said, “The morning show of both the films registered almost equal collection. However, Jaane Tu… shot was leading by the evening. It is enjoying the lead because it’s a very identifiable youth-centric film, while Love Story 2050 is a time-machine concept which the masses don’t relate to.”
Trade analyst, Taran Adarsh said, “The opening of Love story is 30-40 per cent and Jaane Tu… is around 80-100 percent. Jaane Tu… has clearly stolen the thunder.”
Adarsh added, “The script of Love Story 2050 has gone all wrong. Too much emphasis is on special effects and there is hardly any story. On the other hand, Aamir Khan is synonymous with quality cinema.
Jaane Tu… is very real, you identify with the characters. Aamir’s publicity drive worked but that can’t take anything away from the film. Jaane Tu is really good. Imran has won the battle.”

No, no, please don’t underestimate that kid, he has just stepped in the industry, we should encourage him, plus we shouldn’t forget this film was done by his father HARRY BAWEJA, so, you can’t blame every bad thing to that boy, we all should welcome him, like you all welcomed RANVIR KAPOOR, is it because he had big big support and back from Kapoor family and kapoor has got all the good contacts, so, its not that Ranvir is a good actor, Actually nothing was to act in Saanwarya for him, then how can we say that he is a good actor, so, is HARMAN, he is good looking as well. So, just wait what happens? And yes, as long as the film is flpped, don’t blame only poor Harman, Priyanka, was there, why couldn’t she support the film?
And if you think about JTYJN, it was an easy film, no good performance was required, and it was a teenagers and very happy go lucky film, so, I wish Harman the best & best of the luck.
But Rahu Harman has Priyanka and Ranbir has Deepika. And people like Deepika, so they are supporting Ranbir.

You are absolutely right, but the problem is that Priyanks is not strongly appealing as Deepika is, or I may be wrong. And I wish I am wrong, in a sense that she can accompany HARMAN, as Deepika is mostly with Ranvir.
Manoj for sure Harman is not as charamastic as HR,but as new comer he does well.
Both new comers have good futures in bollywood

I belive..a new comer should be encouraged…even though his first movie might be an dissapointment.

one can support someone who is original ,for eg imran (although he is the nephew of aamir,he doesnt copy him).the day harman will come into his own,everyone will support him.
its like most of audience didnt like shahid when he used to copy srk ,its since last 2 years that shahid has come into his own that he met with success.

You are right when you say Harman has to be Original to succeed.

I dont belive fardeen is in same bracket as of SRK,Aamir or Salman.
He is a non entity and really sucks.
According to BOI, JTYJN will be the biggest block buster of this year so far.
Even the songs are chartbusters. When everyone thought that Harman would get an opening like Hrithik Roshan, it was really Imran who did, blockbuster opening, super hit music, and produced by a well known film maker.
The three promising new comers since 2007 is Ranbir, Neil and Imran

Why don’t you add HARMAN BAWEJA as well. Yes, he is going to be a superstar, doesn’t matter if he doesn’t belong to KAPOOR, so what? He will make his place.
