Movie Review: LOVE STORY 2050 by FENIL SETA

I didn’t had much expectation from this one and I wanted to watch it chiefly because I was curious as to how Harry Baweja has depicted future! And with this curiosity I went for Love Story 2050 on the first day itself. And I came out thoroughly impressed. Love Story 2050 has glitches, but overall it’s a must watch movie.
The story of the movie: Karan (Harman Baweja), a 23-year old spoilt brat of a rich man (Dalip Tahil) is living in Sydney. One day he meets Sana (Priyanka Chopra) and falls for her instantly. Slowly, she also falls in love with her. Meanwhile, Karan’s uncle, Uncle Ya (Boman Irani) manages to construct a time machine after 15 years of hard work. Sana expresses her wish to travel to Mumbai, her birthplace but in the year 2050! 4 days later, Karan, Uncle Ya and Sana’s younger brother and sister travel to Mumbai in 2050 but without Sana. Where is Sana? Why didn’t they travel with her? Why did they travel in the future? Is there any special reason for it?
Love Story 2050 works chiefly because it deals with time-travel. The effects used in the scenes of future are totally eye-catching and a delight to watch! However, the 2050 sequence begins at the intermission point. But even before that, the movie entertains.
Some of the scenes in the 1st half were excellent and stand out. The bike race, the roller coaster scene, and Harman chasing Priyanka’s bus scene were some of the scenes which are truly unforgettable. The tragedy 10 minutes before the intermission was of course the highpoint.
However, the best scene of the movie is when Harman and his gang arrive in 2050 and see the flying cars and 200-floor buildings for the first time. This scene was truly remarkable and surely the best!
The 2nd half was nice too but things begin to wrong here. The director concentrated more on the life in 2050 by showing about the robots, flying cars, life of common people. The director doesn’t stress more on the love story and therefore you don’t feel much for the characters Karan and Sana in the 2nd half. Another problem is that there was also a villain in this movie (someone called Dr Hoshi!). This villain part looked forced and it’s evident that it was added to make the goings-on more dramatic. However, it could have been penned better.
The worst thing about the movie is that they have shown New York as Sydney! I instantly guessed that it was not Sydney because if they had really shot there, then the makers would have shown Sydney Opera House or the Harbour Bridge in at least one of the scenes. But they didn’t! Mr Baweja, you can fool the audiences but you cannot fool me!!
Harman Baweja does an excellent job and certainly deserves a pat on his back! He carried the film on his shoulders and did a splendid job. Dialogue delivery, dance, emotional scenes-he did everything perfectly! Watch out for the scene when he breaks down in front of Boman Irani after the tragic sequence! He was splendid in that scene! Harman surely has a long way to go and will surely rock in the future!
Priyanka Chopra looks beautiful, especially in the 1st half. Her look in the 2nd half was little weird but though, she did justice to both the characters of hers and came up with a winning performance.
However, the cutest in the movie were the robots! There are 2 robots in the movie-QT and Boo and both are very very sweet! QT is shown to be a sweet, charming and attractive female robot while Boo is a small-sized playful, mischievous and sweet. These robots were quite entertaining especially QT! I wished I had a robot like QT!
Boman Irani was fabulous and it’s great to see him doing different type of roles in each movie! Archana Puran Singh was funny! The kids were wasted. Gulshan Gover wonderfully voiced the character of masked Dr Hoshi.
Anu Malik’s music was melodious and was futuristic, especially in the song ‘Milo Na Milo’. The best songs of the movie are ‘Milo Na Milo’, ’Sach Kehna’ and ‘Milo Ka’. Monty Sharma’s background score was first-rate.
Dialogues were quite good. The two best dialogues are: “I don’t need luck. I have love!” and “Robots have more feelings than you!” Vijay Arora’s cinematography was perfect.
Special mention should be made of the art direction and special effects. The sets, made by Umang Kumar, were outstanding, perfect and eye-catching! And the special effects were of the finest quality and fantastic. Because of the superior effects, one feels like watching a Hollywood movie.
Dwarak Warrier’s sound design was truly splendid! Harry Baweja and Rowena Baweja’s screenplay was good, and it’s evident that they are heavily inspired by Krrish.
Harry Baweja’s story was quite interesting but at the same time quite waferthin. But he does a good job as a director. He commits some mistakes because of which the film falls short of a masterpiece!
Some of the best scenes of the movie:
1. Harman and Priyanka’s entry
2. The bike race
3. The roller coaster scene
4. Karan chasing Sana’s bus (Interesting!)
5. Karan and Sana doing this they haven’t done before
6. The tragedy just before the interval
7. The intermission point (splendid!)
8. QT’s entry!
9. Boo calling QT!
10. The song ‘Milo Na Milo’ and ‘Meelon Ka’
11. The climax
On the whole, Love Story 2050 is a fabulous entertainer. The film has few glitches but overall it provides a new refreshing and ‘futuristic’ experience. And don’t watch it on VCD/DVD. Watch it on big screen and enjoy the journey to the future!
My rating-**** out of 5!

Since this movie trailer started showing in tv channels i was telling that this moview is going to create magic.

I am living in dubai and the movie has released here on thursday, i planned to watch this movie very first day and i cant wait to see this film, but coz of my work i cudnt make it,then later in the night i went to c but the tickets was full for 10.45pm show & i felt ver sad, later i come to know there is mid night 2am show, so immediately i grab the ticket. now its 5 am in the morning i watched already this movie & i am giving my first review in 5am i.e friday morning.
In one word i was expected lot from this movie but….. but… but…. this movie has proved more than my expectation…
JTYJN is a mind blowing movie & after tare zamen par this is the only movie i felt very great…
Story - simple story with twist & turns, completely fresh
Acting - i cant believe imran has done such a wonderly job in his first film , he was so natural with his own style, the character completely made for him, in one we have bollywood
leonardo di caprio.
Apart from Imran everybody has done a very great job in there character, naseeruddin shah in guest apperance has done a wonderful with his comic charcter. Pareshral was good in inspector role, Aditi brother role has done wonderfully, overall everybody has done a good in there character.
Direction - one of the best direction in recent times, Abbas tyrewala was great the way he took the story from beginning to the climax, especially the last 15 minutes was mind blowing.
Climax - what a climax, u cant stop jumping, clapping, whistling for the last 15 minutes movie. there where few group of guys who was trying to disturb the whole cinema in the theatre by making fun but even they shut there mouth and started enjoying the movie by clapping & whistling in the climax.
Music - ar rahman proved once again he is genius, very good music with perfect songs according to the situation, people will enjoy music more & more after watching this movie
best scenes -
-naseeruddin talking to his wife from painting picture after his death was very funny
- aditi song was beautifully picturised
- climax horse riding
- climax chasing scene in airport
- proposing in the climax by singing
On the whole the movie was well made without any vulgarity, u can enjoy with your family, kids & friends, and when u come out of the cinema u feel u have watched a worth film.
with this movie aamir khan has proved that he is a super perfectionist. Now his coming film ghajini will break all the record.
verdict : 10/10

I dont know how Fenil liked this movie bit it sucks big time
I went to watch this movie with my brother on da weekend and i cant tell you how bad the movie is. There is thousand of flaws. OK let me start with the city, in 2008 mumbai typically looked like amchi mumbai, but in 2050..omg the whole street s disappeared.. u cant even see the street people, people are driving on a flying on a car, and the most WIERD thing is that there is no pollution..
Secondly, the girl dies, the boy wants her back, his crazy uncle makes a TIME Machine for him, he goes to da the future, sees the same girl who died ni past, love in love with her again and brings her back…I MEAN WTF.. how can a girl live in future if she has died in the past, and how did his uncle know( without having any evidence) that his nephew will find his lover in future?? Nothing is explained.. so complete BullS***.
3/ the protagonist only knows how to dance like a robot and act like H. Roshan> other than that the way he speaks is aweful.
4/ there is basiclly no story line
5/ the robots are crap
In conclusion, this movie is poor, second-rate, unsatisfactory, unacceptable, crummy, rotten, pathetic, woeful and bum
RECOMMENDATION: Dont waste your money. It is better to give the money to the charity than watching this movie.
RATING: 0.0000000000001/5

well i completely agree with Fenil’s Review.
Sci-Fi films(as in Hollywood ) r illogical….so don’t go for logics in this film….its a good mixture of indian cinema n sci-f i thingy…apart from outer look of city….everything was close to futuristic imagination
4/5 from my side too…!
