Disregarding his doctor’s warnings that he had an impaired right lung, Sanjay Dutt insisted on shooting underwater scenes for Ashtavinayak’s film Blue. The actor was advised not to do the underwater scenes because that could cause difficulty in breathing.
The actor was shooting these scenes in the Bahamas last week. Dharam Oberoi (CEO, Sanjay Dutt Productions) confirmed the news and said, “Dutt has a problem in his right lung and has been advised not to do underwater scenes. But he is a real action hero and he shot for these scenes without any difficulty.”
Oberoi added that Dutt had to undergo treatment for his impaired lung in the US, some time back. Our well-placed source in the industry chips in, “Dutt’s lung problem happened due to excessive smoking. He needs to take a lot of care.”
The doctors’ verdict
• Dr Pranav Sheth (General Practitioner): If Sanju’s lungs can take in the artificial respiration, it’s fine. Else, he should take care.
• Dr Jayant Barve (Physician): If one has a significantly impaired lung capacity, then the person should be cautious and if he/she performs underwater stunts, he should have enough of backup available in terms of manpower (experts) and machinery (air tanks).
