“Shahid has surprised me…” - Aziz Mirza
He has worked with Shah Rukh Khan in four films [RAJU BAN GAYA GENTLEMAN, YES BOSS, PHIR BHI DIL HAI HINDUSTANI, CHALTE CHALTE]. For the first time, veteran Aziz Mirza has looked elsewhere, beyond Shah Rukh. “When I bounced off the idea of KISMAT KONNECTION to Juhi [Chawla], her reaction was, ‘Sounds so much like a young SRK.’ Shah Rukh is a terrific actor, but he wouldn’t look in his 20s. I had to cast someone young for the part,” the soft-spoken film-maker tells me.
So how did he zero upon Shahid Kapur? “I had seen ISHQ VISHK and was truly impressed by his acting abilities. I also liked his effort in films that didn’t work. But he has surprised me with his performance in KISMAT KONNECTION. He’s excellent in the film,” Mirza informs me.
KISMAT KONNECTION is important for yet another reason. Mirza’s son Haroun will be credited as the co-director of the film. “Actually, he should’ve been credited as the co-director during CHALTE CHALTE itself. My wife Nirmala was hospitalized then and I was at the hospital most of the times. Haroun came forward and shouldered the responsibility then. He’s extremely capable and so sure of what he wants,” the veteran states.

well the story doesnt sound like a young story!!! sorry to say but vidya’s pairing with shahid seems like its a matured love story not a ccollege or uni love story (as vidya cant look like a college or uni girl)…

dude i am not saying anything about the movie because aziz has always made good movies… my point was regarding the young SRK…thats not a good enough reason for not signing SRK…he could say something else…even in the songs shahid acts like SRK…

Maryam…Shahid cant match SRK talent or acting…but he is a good actor, he done well in Jab We Met…it looks like a good movie, wait and see if the movie is good

again you are misunderstanding me…my point is that i dont agree with aziz’s explaination why he didt sign SRK for the movie…thats fine may be he wannted to try with someone else but its not a good enough reason to say he wanted a young SRK>>> because if he wanted young love story then he should have sign a younger actress also…vidya wont even suit SRK as she is 30 and looks much older than her age…

Sonny, I completely understnad your point. And you are right, I was shocked as well, and yes, you are right, this was not the reason from AZIZ MIRZA, but actually it was an excuse not to cast him, he must have thought, that SHAHID KAPUR,who is just after this film became popular, so, he just jumped to him, no doubt Shahid is a hardworking boy, but SRK would have been really great, and JUHI did say this as well. But Aziz Mirza, it was his wish. So, we are not criticising, just annoyed by his fake reasons. And yes, Ricky poor VIDYA BALAN does look, lets wait & see how this pair looks on screen?

Shahid is the best person to replace Srk in small movies like aziz’s , though he wont match Srk by any standard !! but will do an avg job !!
I mean cant thnk of Abhi-Hrithik etc in such roles
