Bollywood Box-Office Report of the Week (June 25)

Coming Friday
The coming Friday will see the clash of THODA PYAAR THODA MAGIC and THODI LIFE THODA MAGIC! Nothing to be confused about, the Saif-Rani starrer THODA PYAAR THODA MAGIC is a Yash Raj venture, directed and co-produced by Kunal Kohli, while THODI LIFE THODA MAGIC is a small budgeted project featuring Jackie Shroff and Arbaaz Khan. There is also a third release, the ‘hat ke’ VIA DARJEELING, starring the likes of Kay Kay, Pravin Dabas and Vinay Pathak. While THODI LIFE THODA MAGIC has no chances at all, even Kunal Kohli’s co-production with Yash Raj Films, THODA PYAAR THODA MAGIC, has very little hype associated with it and is not likely to set the box-office on fire. With some luck VIA DARJEELING may impress at select multiplexes of Metros.
Last Friday
Last Friday saw a not so happy week for Bollywood, as none of the new releases made much of an impact at the ticket window. While Pahlaj Nihalani’s KHUSHBOO had a poor opening, Kumar Mangat’s HAAL-E-DIL fared better with a dull start. The bright lining is that the performances of the newcomers, especially Amita and Adhyayan were noticed and appreciated. The best collections (comparatively) came from Rising Star Entertainment’s DE TAALI, but even they are nothing to write home about, despite the presence of stars like Aftab, Ritesh and Ayesha.
MERE BAAP PEHLE AAP
After a satisfactory weekend, Priyadarshan’s Akshaye-Genelia starrer, MERE BAAP PEHLE AAP, faced a noticable fall from Monday. During the first week the film collected, 1.80 crore from Bombay, 95 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 3 lakhs from Patan, 1.60 lakhs from Palanpur, 1.30 lakhs from Deesa, 3 lakhs from Himmatnagar, 13.50 lakhs from Rajkot, 3.50 lakhs from Jamnagar, 6.55 lakhs (gross) from Bhavnagar, 2.15 lakhs from Gandhidham, 14.60 lakhs from Pune, 3.65 lakhs from Solapur, 2.20 lakhs from Sangli, 7.65 lakhs from Nasik, 1.65 crores from Delhi city, 21.65 lakhs from Noida, 11.75 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 9.20 lakhs from Kanpur, 25.45 lakhs from Lucknow, 6 lakhs (approx) from Agra, 1.45 lakhs from Allahabad, 3.85 lakhs from Meerut, 1.65 lakhs from Bareilly, 4.15 lakhs from Aligarh, 22.50 lakhs from Gurgaon, 13.70 lakhs from Faridabad, 3.15 lakhs from Panipat, 60 lakhs from Calcutta, 2.40 lakhs from Guwahati, 22.35 lakhs from Nagpur, 1.40 lakhs from Jabalpur, 2.80 lakhs from Amravati, 2.45 lakhs from Akola, 2.25 lakhs from Dhule, 2.60 lakhs Durg, 1.25 lakhs from Bhusawal, 1.60 lakhs from Chandrapur, 20 lakhs from Indore, 1 lakh from Ujjain, 35 lakhs from Jaipur, 3.60 lakhs (gross) from Ajmer, 4.60 lakhs from Bikaner, 47 lakhs (gross) from Hyderabad, 2.10 lakhs from Aurangabad and 4.45 lakhs from Mangalore. During its opening week, MERE BAAP PEHLE AAP has netted a fairly decent 15.85 crores from India . In Overseas it is quite stable in the UK, having grossed $410,579 so far.

SUMMER 2007
Sikander Kher’s second project, SUMMER 2007 turns out to be worse than his first, WOODSTOCK VILLA. The film has pathetic collections to show and could not complete even a week’s run at many places. The film collected 6.75 lakhs from Bombay, 2.30 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 3.10 lakhs from Pune, 3.10 lakhs from Delhi city, 1.15 lakhs from Noida, 1 lakh from Ghaziabad, 1 lakh (approx) from Lucknow and Nagpur and 1.25 lakhs from Hyderabad. Netting less than 40 lakhs from India in its opening week.
Box Office Status: Supreme Disaster.
SARKAR RAJ
The Ram Gopal Varma directed SARKAR RAJ, crashed at many centres in its second week. Distributors of several circuit would lose part of their investment. SARKAR RAJ though is good in Maharashtra. Checking out the numbers the film collected 1.55 crores from Bombay, 35 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 2.55 lakhs from Anand, 12 lakhs from Baroda, 1.05 lakh from Navsari, 1.25 lakhs from Vapi, 1 lakh from Baruch, Bhavnagar, 8.90 lakhs from Surat, 7 lakhs from Rajkot, 2.20 lakhs from Jamnagar, 56.10 lakhs from Pune, 3.25 lakhs from Kohlapur, 2 lakhs from Solapur, 3.65 lakhs from Nasik, 1.40 lakhs from Sangli, 4.60 lakhs from Goa, 3.05 lakhs from Hubli, 71 lakhs from Delhi city, 12.10 lakhs from Noida, 5.45 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 3.85 lakhs from Kanpur, 9.40 lakhs from Lucknow, 2.25 lakhs from Agra, 2.70 lakhs from Varanasi, 1 lakh from Meerut, 2 lakhs from Gorakhpur, 2.40 lakhs from Jalandhar, 9.20 lakhs from Chandigarh, 4.10 lakhs from Ludhiana, 19.30 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.30 lakhs from Amritsar, 5.65 lakhs from Faridabad, 1.50 lakhs from Ambala, 1.05 lakhs from Hissar, 2.45 lakhs from Jammu, 21.50 lakhs from Calcutta, 2.40 lakhs from Guwahati, 11.60 lakhs from Nagpur, 1.10 lakhs from Jabalpur, 1.65 lakhs from Amravati, 8.50 lakhs from Indore, 5.90 lakhs from Jaipur, 25.75 lakhs from Hyderabad, 2 lakhs from Aurangabad, 37.25 lakhs from Bangalore 1.50 lakhs from Mangalore and 7.75 lakhs from Madras. During its second week SARKAR RAJ took a huge but expected fall of over 70 percent getting only 6.90 crores from India. The Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya starrer has netted 30.75 crores in two weeks from India. SARKAR RAJ’s Overseas run too shows no improvement as it crashes once again and has grossed $909,771 from the US and $693,584 from the UK.
Box Office Status: Flop in India & Overseas.
AAMIR
AAMIR has done well and is rock steady at select multiplexes. It collected 21 lakhs from Bombay, 1.75 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 5.25 lakhs from Pune, 9.20 lakhs from Delhi city, 3 lakhs (approx) from Noida, 3.15 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1 lakh (approx) from Ludhiana and Nagpur, 1.40 lakhs from Chandigarh, 2.85 lakhs from Calcutta and 2 lakhs (approx) from Bangalore. With another 80 lakhs during its second week, the Rajeev Khandelwal starrer has so far netted over 2 crores from India.
Box Office Status: Average.
JANNAT
Vishesh Films’ JANNAT manages to collect some more profit for its distributors. The Kunal Deshmukh directed film collected 3.75 lakhs from Bombay, 3.05 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1.20 lakhs from Rajkot, 5.75 lakhs from Delhi city, 2 lakhs (approx) from Lucknow, 1.10 lakhs from Agra, 2.60 lakhs from Jaipur, 3.20 lakhs from Hyderabad and 1.20 lakhs from Aurangabad. The Emraan –Sonal starrer adds another 75 lakhs and has so far netted a very impressive ( for its cost) 32.75 crores in five weeks from India. The film has also done decently in the UK, grossing $302, 34.
Box Office Status: Super Hit in India & Semi-Hit in Overseas.

yes for sure sarkar raj is a daaba movie flop
first sarkar raj has a dull start with three buchans together 40% opening shame on them
and in second week sarkar raj crash miserably and was taken off from the cinema with in the 2 weeks
its the first movie which has taken out of cinema in two weeks
actually not first one but buchans second one as their first one was agg which was taken out from cinema in 2 weeks
agg has the honour to hold the two biggest verdicts biggest disaster of indian cinema and biggest disaster of amitab career
and sarkar raj is their second one wich is taken out of cinema so quickly that no body even knows that film was release or not

sarkar raj deserves to be a dead duck bcoz it has absolutely nothing in it to set the cash registers ringing .
MBPA is also a terrible movie but since it belongs to comic genre has managed to do avg business.

anil ambani…more money than brains; the Bachan family good marketing machine, little talent. If AA had any business acumen Sarkar Raj should have been a clear indicator that the Bachan name does not equal box office sucess…no matter how well the movie was marketed, hyped about it bombed miserably. I suppose AA will use this venture as a tax writeoff as i doubt he will see much profit. Nice to have friends with deep pockets, even while the rest of the nation is starving, AA is throwing good money after bad.

Well Anil is not investing any money on the Bacchan movies.He is investing these bucks in Hollywood.bacchan is a minor partner in the venture.

See every few months the Bachchans and the bachchanistas come back asking for one more “last chance”. Unfortunately they cannot score. No one is willing to back them anymore. No one wants to loose money. Even Ravi Chopra is thinking of removing Big Bad B from “Pocket Maar”.

Very good news. Now Drona is on the way to be queued on flop list. Despite all these result, why producer and directors are closing their eyes and getting signed to these flop actors on their films. I think they have lots of money and they want to destroy. Better you people invest your money on society for poor and helpless than to destroy investing on Bachchans.

De Taali opened to a poor response of 30%, the reports are not good and the film may do slightly better at Mumbai multiplexes.
Haal-E-Dil and Khushboo opened very poorly to around 10% response.
Mere Baap Pehle Aap has managed decent business in week one of around 15 crore. The film should emerge safe but profits will be very small. The 8th day shows a drop in collections at most places.
Aamir is sustaining well with around 1.80 crore business in two weeks.
Sarkar Raj falls badly in week two. The second week buisness is around 7 crore takings it 2 week total to 30.50 crore. Outside Mumbai the film is set to be a loser. Mysore has also done okay but that circuit was bought by PVR alongwith Delhi/UP and East Punjab for 7 crore and Mysore cannot compensate for poor business in Delhi/UP and East Punjab. The two week share for the three circiuts is around 5 crore and recovery looks impossible.
