This Week’s Topics: AYESHA TAKIA-THE HIT-LESS HEROINE!

She has got the looks, she can give wonderful performances, she has a huge fan following, she has been in the film industry since 4 years and she has worked with lots of big banners. And yet, Ayesha Takia hasn’t given a single hit till now! All films done by Ayesha were either flops or average. Some of her films like Taarzan, Dil Maange More, Socha Na Tha, Home Delivery, Shaadi Se Pehle, Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota, Dor, and Salaam-E-Ishq were good interesting flicks but none of them were hits. And her other films (Shaadi No.1, Kya Love Story Hai, No Smoking, Sunday) were disastrous. Even the recently released De Taali was disappointing and has failed at the BO. But good times may be awaiting her since she is going to be seen in Prabhu Deva’s Wanted Dead And Alive which also stars Salman Khan. It’s a remake of super-hit Telegu flick Pokiri and is expected to be a hit. So hopefully, Ayesha will be able to proudly say that she has (finnnnnaaaalllllyyyy) given a hit!

Amita Pathak, daughter of producer Kumar Mangat, debuted with this Friday’s release Haal-E-Dil. I noticed whenever she makes public appearances; she wears some thing like a ‘taaviz’ around her right hand. She even wore it even while filming Haal-E-Dil (check out the pic). Curios, I asked her about it day before yesterday when she attended the BollywoodHungama.com (previously Indiafm.com) Live Chat Session. Her reply was “Fenil, It’s not a taaviz. It’s an evil eye. It was gifted to me by my bro. I believe that it’s my lucky charm. Hence, I am wearing it.” Quite interesting, but unfortunately, this lucky charm of hers didn’t help in making her debut film Haal-E-Dil a commercial success! Then I asked her “Did you like the film ‘NO SMOKING’ which was produced by your dad?” (No Smoking was last year’s biggest disaster) Her reply was interesting: “Fenil, I did watch No Smoking. And on a frank note, I was not really happy with the film’s outcome.”! I had expected a sugar-coated reply but I am pleasantly surprised that she spoke the truth. I appreciate it Amita and best of luck for your future!

Tomorrow, Yash Raj Film’s 2nd release of 2008, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic (TPTM) will hit the theatres. It’s a crucial film not only for Yash Raj Films but for all the people associated with it.

For Yash Raj Films, TPTM is a good chance to prove that they are still capable of churning out good films.

For Kunal Kohli, TPTM is an important film since he has also co-produced it and also because it’s his newfound production company’s (Kunal Kohli Productions) first film.

For Amisha Patel, TPTM is a brilliant chance to resurrect her sagging career and get the same prestige in the industry which she had before.

In keeping with the tradition of the Yash Raj, the film’s promotion is low-key but still, Amisha’s hot-groovy track ‘Lazy Lamhe’ has created hype for the movie. But the big trade pundits aren’t sure about the film’s success owing to the recent disasters of Yash Raj Films (Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Aaja Nachle, Tashan). Let’s hope Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic brings magical success for all these people!
