SRK and Bachchan are fighting for number two place in history. Dilip Kumar is clear leader.
SRK has small chance of ending his career has biggest star ever if he has extraordinary 10-15 years from now.
Bachchan has no chance because he has messed everything up in last 10 years with 80% of his films flopping.
Bachchan success ratio at the end of 86 was about 70% now its down to 50%.

You can’t compare 80s superstar with late 90s superstar. at the age of more than 60 and about 40 year of career in Film Industry Big B is still in Demand. Shahrukh will not have the same charisma till that time. 100% sure. You can’t compare otherwise Big B is a MahaNayak of Indian Cinema. I don’t see reviews of other films by so many people. Why is it that almost everyone wants to review BiG B’s films viz Sarkar Raj…This is because they want themselves to be associated with him in every which way. And those who are anti-BIG B want to pull him down becuase they feel threatened by his presence and burn with jelaousy that still at age 66, he is being compared with today’s superstars.
Let us measure sharukhs performance when he does no of film equivalent to Amitabh.
Let us see what can Shahrukh do at age of 66???
Let us not forget that when Amitabh came in industry, everybody was looking for chocolate face.
Amitabh has many physical limitation due disease is fighting from his early age Let us not forget his qualities like punctualities, discipline,hardwork, attitute to fight with every odds When amitabh came, publicity medium were only magazines Before Amitabh every film was requiring good superhit music, good comedian etc.Amitabh changed that. He started carrying film on his own shoulder. He started doing everything alone in Film.
In many hit fims Amitabh do not have any hit song. Amitabh never limited himself with big production houses.
At amitabh time film was considered hit when it will do silver jubilee. Today Film is superhit before release as hit is considered on total earnings not on viewership.
And above all You can not deny Greatness to Bradman , because you have Sachin Today.
In fact most of the data is absolutely misleading. I had seen many movies of Amitabh & so many movies where i was not able to get tickets are dubbed by you as average, which is ridiculous.
If Shahrukh is so great why he is trying to copy every act of Amitabh?
Amitabh has proven himself to be an artist first, then a star or superstar if you so wish! SRK may have been labelled a star/superstar/king, etc but he is still to prove himself as an artist in the true sense of the word. Dilip was in a class of his own, so is amitabh. I guess SRK was fortunate to have come at a time when there was very little competition and with just the right ‘formular’ for that time. This earned him his little spot in the sun. So Amitabh fans let ‘King Khan’ be.

Purely on acting skills its AB all the way from folk, village guy, suave and sophisticated, villaneous, you name it he has managed to pull of all the roles CONVINCINGLY. Thats the true calibre of an actor. The very fact that he is still around and going strong is AMAZING. The very fact that people still remember and adore him (young or old, boys or girls) and want to watch him is AMAZING. How many actually remember say a Rajesh Khanna, Shashi Kapoor,Vinod Khanna, Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Mithun. Its Amitabh who is still going strong. In SRK’s time, lets also not forget its not SRK alone the real toughies are Aamir, Akshay Kumar, Salman, Saif who are doing very good in India and abroad going by the Box Office. But then Amitabh is Vintage, watch him, relax and enjoy those tremendous acting skills. The voice, presentation, personality the tremendous screen presence, and most importantly the DIALOGUE DELIVERY,ahem no one comes close. The very fact that Iam writing so much and so many are writing about him comparing him with the newest breeds, is indeed a compliment to him and already makes him the best. Because you compare others only to the best. The very fact we are comparing others like SRK with AB, makes AB the best and not vice versa. Let the debate continue, it will only make good for AB. He is the star of the millenium right, Iam sure thats not for nothing.

‘Paanchvi Pass’ pass nahin
With Shah Rukh Khan, both Siddharth Basu of Synergy Adlabs and STAR were confident of the cult following that ‘Paanchvi Pass’ would generate. They were hoping to recreate the magic of ‘KBC’. And so confident they were that they launched the game show during the IPL extravaganza.
Blunder No.1. For a cricket starved nation, a game show is just a filler during the advertisements. ‘Paanchvi Pass’ was unveiled in April when the IPL - Twenty-20 mania had just about kicked in. It was the clash of the titans. Other channels shied away from unveiling new shows and more or less stuck to their tried and tested soaps. But Star decided to take a gamble and launch ‘Paanchvi Pass’. They were hoping to cash in on the SRK mania.SRK did voice his dissent. Juggling between promoting his Kolkata Knight Riders and his back to back commitments with Star did leave him a little sore.
We had reported earlier that King Khan wasn’t keen on kick starting ‘Paanchvi Pass’ because he felt that there would be a clash of interests, but Star wanted to cash in on his onscreen magnetism.
A game show is a fantastic concept. Edu-entertainment is the new TRP churner, but a regular diet does tend to make it a tad boring. And that is exactly what happened with the show. The SRK magnetism refused to hold the show together. TRP’s dropped to an abysmal level. Slowly, the audience shifted loyalties to the IPL. And when they had enough and more of cricket, they decided to watch Salman Khan perform his antics…that was a novelty because by then Shah Rukh was old news.
To give our King Khan credit, he did try to pull back the TRP’s with celeb power. But the TRP’s still continued to stick to a dismal 2 to 2.6 percent. From SRK loyalists - KJo and Rani Mukherji to our Railway Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav - the show refused to make the climb on the charts. Even though the channel has SRK’s dates for 52 episodes, they have decided to stick to the original contract of 36 episodes and pull it off air after that.
Are we going to see Season II in the near future? Siddharth Basu, on a defensive note, said, ” That is a call that the channel would need to take.” The channel seemed to pussy foot around questions and refused to comment. Our close source however managed to slip it in that, “there are talks of replacing it with another show. Non-fiction or fiction is still being worked on.”
And our bets are hedged on the ‘Mahabharatha’, Star Plus’s magnum opus. With 9X gunning for an August release, Star Plus is feeling the heat and may decide to slot their Mahabharatha in the same time slot as ‘Paanchvi Pass’. There are a couple of daily soaps in the pipeline, but they would need a strong show to retain their prime time slot.

In ‘Sarkar Raj’, we see the emergence of Bachchan II. Small B has, finally, stepped into the shoes of Angry Young Man. The junior never for once flinches in the presence of his mighty dad. Nor is he overshadowed by his charming wife. Abhishek Bachchan, as Shankar Nagre, is one for the textbook.
The screenplay of ‘Sarkar Raj’, which is low on dialogue, poses a challenge to all actors concerned. Abhishek gets over this hurdle with admirable ease. He internalises the character, delivers a controlled performance, and proves once again that he is invincible. On his day, that is!
The net collection for Sarkar Raj stands at Rs. 20,40,14,150 at the end of Week 1 at the Indian Box-office. It has also taken a record-breaking initial overseas.
Strength: The Terrific (Bachchan) Trio, Stunning climactic twist
Weakness: Screen lag! Weak premise.

SR is going to be the boggest blockbuster of Bollywood.. but some srk fans and his fevoured analyst are trying to derail the movie by giving negative report.. even some channels are giving wrong report. But yet it running houseful. n bangalore ut was houseful throughout the first week and seconr week its around 80% in multiplexes. It opened with 75shows in Bangalore which itself is a record.. But due to release of Dashavatar of Kamal hasan second week screening has reduced..
And in oversea it has alredy grossed 25Cr as on 15tyh jun.check boxofficemojo.com for clarification..

Yesterday on E-tonight on CNN IBN - the guy was pretty sarcastic abt Abhishek promoting motorola cell phones and said something to the effect that …’with Sarkar Raj collections falling badly in week 2, AB Jr will have to do more than sell phones to win over the public….and that it is quite funny to see him say that “this is the best phone” everytime motorola comes up with a new model”
- Also, a couple of days back on NDTV night out, they said that Abhishek’s brand value is falling and is at the moment quite weak in comparison to that of Big B and Ash since his movies are not doing well. They then said that with Sarkar Raj too not doing well there is a lot for him to worry about. Then they added that even though SR is not doing well, Bachchan family is travelling all over to promote the movie…that may be because of their extensive travel they have missed the fact that the movie is doing badly and therefore continue to promote it

what happen yaar??? fist of all srk have to reach the level of amir khan then u can drem to start the comparism with Big B. In case of HITS Rajendra Kumar in hos time was a superstar. his 90% films were hit which is better than srk. so in your views we can easily say Rajendra Kumar is better than srk. SRK can’t dream to potrayted the roles done by nassiruddin, amir, sanjib kumar. I will like to see when srk delivers us a performances like- Agneepath, Aks, Black, Sarkar, Akree Rastaa, Deewar, Khakee,Namak hallal, namak haram, bemisal, alaap, soudagar etc. etc. I think he never done so as he simply cant. so carry on SRK with MASSALA like OSO, MHN. If aftab have the loby of YASRAj then he will be better than SRK. SRK the showman the hype master the lesser quality!!!!!!!!!!!1

Mustafa you forgot to told that in Zanjeer there was Pran as well and popular track was picturised on him, which gave the movie a major boast.
Laawaris Mr.Mustafa I don’t consider as Solo because Rakhee had that Super Hit Track.
As for Don it was Dialogues that were winner not Amitabh. See Shah Rukh Khan did those dialogues and it remained memorable as ever or more than amitabh. The dialogues completely overshadowed amitabh acting if there was any in the movie.

It seems you’ll always run down Bachchan. Its a fare point if we criticise bachchan at this point of time. He definitely earned it, this criticism. And he has to accept it and he is realizing it. Having said that when we try to run down Amitabh in comparison to SRK, that’s a great mistake. Let me represent a case study.
When SRK was in his nickers, AB was a phenomenon and SRK was awstruck by him. And he developed a dream to be one day will be like AB and he followedd it and decided to become an actor.
Let me give you some instances.
1. A drunken, mirror scene in Yes boss
(Bachchan in Amar Akbar Anthony)
2. Acting in DON remake and singing the song Khaike Pan banaraswala (Bachchan in DON)
3. SRK doing KBC3
(Bachchan in KBC 1 & 2)
4. SRK being a brand ambassador of ICICI Bank
(Bachchan was being a Brand ambassador also)
5. SRK endorsing Navaratna Oils
(Bachchan was also brand ambassador)
6. Overseas tour programs was started by Amitabh and was pioneered by Amitabh. (SRK following it religiously)
7. SRK in a multi-starrer party song in OSO
(Bachchan in Naseeb)
And Finally unforgettable tour of Bachchan was preplanned earlier. Suddenly out of no where SRK’s temptation reloaded announced at the same time.
So eventually Bachchan was an inspiration star and SRK is also a Big star. Difference is Amitabh has shown the way and SRK followed it religiously. In that way Bachchan was a master and SRK was a disciplined follower.

Its the most ridiculous statement of the lot.What do you try to prove ?? when gavaskar played all those staright drive even Sachin was in his Chaddis,that doent mean that Sachin is not better than gavaskar.In fact he is far better than him.
Similarly how does it makes a difference to SRK vis a vis BIG B.Is it SRKs mistake that he came to the world 25 years later than BIG B.
Let me tell you its been proved that BIG B is not a phenomenon he used to be in his prime.But unfortunately he started declining after 85.
The point here is not about who followed whom.The point of discussion is if SRK rules at this moment or not???
FYI Sarkar Raj could collect only 30 Cr (42 cr is the cost of productiuon)in two weeks with three Bacchans together.
Secondly as this thread proves,BIG B has fewer BO hits as a solo actor .Most of his big hits are in multistarrers.
Also fyi,BIG B run at the top lasted from 75-85.10 years to be precise.After 1985(Mard) he has given only one solo hit in next 23 years.
Whereas SRKs run at the top has alreday lasted 13 years (1995-2008) and he is still going strong.
BIG B has given only two hits after the age of 42 he has worked in 70 movies in that period.(after 1985)

Amitabh started his overseas stage shows in 1992.After 1993 his stage programms were utter failures.So he stopped doing that after a while.
Where as SRK staterd in 1994 and everybody knows,how SRKs show abroad sales.
Recently there was a show at Amsterdam,netherlands and it was a jampacked stadium.

As far as Ad goes,SRK stared the bandwagon.He taught the actors how to make money out of ads.People like Bacchan,Aamir,AK,salman followed SRK in this and not the other way around.

It’s all about economy. 30 years back one Kg Mutton priced at Rs.2/- and now its near about Rs.200/- . Similarly 30 years back there was no multiplexes and the country India was not a super power. And now the country in the verge of a super power. And its an age of globalization. So in that respect, with respect to SRK despite being a big star he is getting more benefits because he is fortunately happens to be a star in this times. And he is getting much more benefits than he deserves. So in that perspective if you see, you’ll be little humble and won’t react overtly and unidimension manner. So one should not dare to belittle AB in comparison to SRK. Everyone knows SRK at present rules. No denying that. But thats about it. Beyond that there is no need to run down bigB in comparison to SRK. If it is so then one must admit the Amitabh baiters having a huge complex about the personality of Big B.

If today the toicket price is 200,similarly the cost of production is also a high.

Your statement proves that you have no idea whatssever reg the dynamics of BO.
FYI the dynamics of BO remains the same.There is a inflation factor for sure.But its applicable to ticket prices as well as to the cost of production too.
In the 70;s no movie cost 40 cr for sure.It hardly cost 1 cr.(Value was same if adjust it to inflation)
Why are you dodging the real issue???
FYI in the 70;s cinema was the only avenue for entertainment .Today you know how it is.Having said that i am not taking out any credit from BIG B performance in the 70’s.
But i have a real problem with the BIG B of these times.

moreover u cant compare the70′ and 80’s films with todays film.today is the age of multiplex. even success at the multiplex ensures film’ success.most of the film which are shown semi hit and above average of amitabh’s are actually a hit.
