Ramgopal Varma not launching Adhvik in Contract!
Mid-Day:No time for heroes
Author: Upala KBRAfter ‘disasters’ like Manoj Bajpai and Mohit Ahlawat, RGV now presents Adhvik Mahajan minus the fanfare
Keeping it quiet: Adhvik Mahajan
All male actors looking for a break in Ram Gopal Varma’s Factory, be warned. You will be showcased with the rest of the cast and crew in his future films. Don’t expect a special unveiling and presentation in front of the media.
Ramu’s call
Says a Factory insider, “It was Ramu’s call to keep Contract lead actor Adhvik Mahajan out of the limelight.” According to RGV, his latest film drives home a serious point on the underworld and “focussing on the hero is unecessary.”
Ramu says, “When I made Satya and Company, I didn’t make them to launch Manoj Bajpai or Vivek Oberoi. I cast them because they fit the characters but after the success, when the media praised me it went to my head and I went on a trip of launching heroes and made disasters like Randeep and Mohit.
Contract is not a launch pad for anybody but a drama between equally important characters of which Adhvik Mahajan is one; though he is the protagonist. The story is set against the backdrop of underworld terrorism. We will show everyone now and not just Adhvik.”
Please note: RGV didn’t mention Vivek amongst the disasters. “Ha! Ha! I guess there are enough disasters out there who like that disaster.” Some compliment that!
