Box Office Response Sarkar Raj
Despite all the hullabaloo created by the Bachchan family, the bookings for Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar Raj are quite lukewarm.

We spoke to some theatre officials across Mumbai and this is what they had to say.
Says an official, “At Globus (Bandra) tickets are pretty much available for the first day first show but not for the 8:15 pm show on the same day which is sold out. But over the weekend the tickets are still available.”
It is a similar case at Cineplanet (Sion) and Cinemagic (Andheri, (E)), where tickets are still available for the first day first show and for the other shows over the weekend too.
The situation is slightly better at Fun Republic (Andheri). “While the tickets for all the shows are available on the first day, for the afternoon and evening shows on Saturday, the advance bookings are sold out. The advance booking for Sunday is still on though,” adds the theatre official
At Gaiety (Bandra), for a change, the tickets for the first day first show are completely sold out, but not over the weekend.
The box-office bookings of Sarkar Raj surely signify that people are still to get over the IPL fever. Even the star cast of the entire Bachchan family is not sufficient to attract audiences to the theatres. Whether the bookings will improve after the release of the movie we have to wait and watch.

First of all let me tell you,I havent watched the movie to give an opinion.
Surely ,i would have given an opinion ,had i watched it.
Secondly ,i do not have any plans go and waste my money and 3 hrs of precious times with a bunch of suckers.(I had a torrid time watching Ekalavya.I didnt even think of going to watch AAG and Nishabd or Bhoothnath for that matter)
Only i hope ,this might be a better movie as the prequel was excellent.But again both Bacchaan and RGV have declined by leaps and bounds after that movie.
I will only go and watch if i receive poitive Word of Mouth from my Freinds.Even for that to happen ,i have to wait for atleast a week because even none of freinds are interested to watch a old and sulking man with his dumb son and hypocritic daughter in law.
Surely,i will wait till Monday because if it opens well,i will think that the movie is good.Else,i would prefer to watch a DVD of a currently concluded IPL.

sarkar raj is too good.the chemistry between father & son is very good.Big B stolen the second half of the film & take the film to great heights.Its an exceptional movie by RGV.This movie falls into a sequel of satya,shiva.i recommend every body to watch the movie. my rate will be 4.5/5.
this is exceptional movie by RGV.Don’t write the reviews without watching movie.both father & son’s performance were too good.first half is stolen by jr.bachchan & second half is stolen by Big B.superb performance by both of them.espeacially finale is superb because BigB as ferocious as a wounded tiger in the finale and takes the film to great heights.

SR has opened to a paltry 50 % opening in multiplexes and 30-40 % single screen.Pray the numbers improve so that the bacchans doesnt have to lick each others asses.

The thing to be noted is that everyone…i & i repeat if u can’t hear or read properly has given standing ovation to BIG B’s acting irrespective of the film’s fate yet. And that is what counts. You ahve come here to act and so should u do it. And making a film success minus the songs, minus the hindi film masala, minus the actions, minus the romance take a lot of guts. Who has shown these guts but the BIG B, first with Black, then with Sarkar and now with Sarkar Raj.
I think ur mindset typically represents the masses crowd which seem to like all the jhatkas, matkas, a 40+ man romancing a young nubile, and repeating those mushy mushy lines which has been repeated umpteenth time earlier by many people. I think u shoudl better stay away from watching SR as u might feel complexed on behalf of ur idol after seeing the highest level of standards set by the Bachchans which x,y,z actor can never achieve.

sarkar raj is waste of money and time…i expected the bachchans to do much better…the movie have been portrayed as a political thriller…but its not…its not as serious as it seems in the previews…may be the movie starts better than it ends…but overall its very long and so boring….and the music is nuthin…i ve heard before it releases that there is may be a sarkar III coming….well if sarkar II is like this…i am not that encourged to watch sarkar III even…

Sarkar Raj opened to a poor response with the all India average being around 45-50%. Mumbai was better at around 60-65% but the rest of the country was poor at 40-45%. The reports are fair so it could pick up especially in Mumbai and South. Overall the film may earn in Mumbai, South and possibly Bengal but will struggle in East Punjab, Bihar, Rajasthan and CI.

sarkar raj may be a average grosser and go up to collect a little more than the first film sarkar that was a beraty but this survive due to no competition till 27 june leaving alone dashavatharam. and anyway the film is not bad and will create in mysore region and mumbai.my prediction for sarkar raj on the first week is 16 crore and overall a 28 crore which makes the film a average grosser

All Bacchan Fans.. This is what BOI has to say on Sarkar Raj
There had been expectations of a huge opening from Ram Gopal Verma’s Sarkar Raj but it was never on the cards. The media and makers of Sarkar Raj had these expectations because they had put Sarkar in the same bracket as films like Hera Pheri, Munnabhai MBBS and Koi Mil Gaya as the sequels to these films were hugely awaited by the public. The problem here is the impact of Sarkar was not close to those films. Koil Mil Gaya was a huge hit so Krrish was always going to be a craze, Munnabhai MBBS was a hit but more importantly the film remained hugely popular after its run in the theatres which led to its sequel Lage Raho Munnabhai being eagerly awaited.
The box office run of Hera Pheri was similar to Sarkar but the impact of Hera Pheri after release was phenomenal as it ruled the DVD/VCD charts like no other film before or after it which led to Phir Hera Pheri opening to a bumper response.
Sarkar was a just a hit in parts of India and average to above average affair overall and the film was no Hera Pheri or Munnabhai MBBS after release so it was never going to open big. Most in the trade did expect it to open well in Mumbai so the below average opening there was a surprise.
The fate of Sarkar Raj will now depend on its merit as the makers obviously over estimated the popularity of the first Sarkar and spent nearly 30 crore on a sequel of a not so popular film.
In addition to the above the makers also overestimated the power of the bacchans.
Even the Bachans took their superstardom too seriously.
They should realise that in 2007 the father son and daughter in law trio gave two of the ALL TIME BLOCK DISATERS of all time.(Aaag and Umrao Jaan)

As for critics who are against BIG B, some well known facts…
1. SRK invited all the critics on his b’day on 2nd nov 2007 and they gave 3 / 4 stars to OSO (released on 9th). We all know how fattu is he. He knows he can survive only on media and not on his acting & wants to keep all of them in right spirit.
2. Sajid+Karan seem to be paid up by SRK to applaude him on & off screen.
3. Critics like Khalid are active members of this clan along with Rajeev masand, thus coming up with avg ratings for every AB film while preserving 4 stars for a painful films of SRK especially OSO. But starngely, Khalid has not spoken one ill semtemce of BIG B’s acting, so i guess its bigb’s win since Khalid didn’t have guts to say a lie. Khalid says ““Amitabh Bachchan is tolerable” , yeah sure as hell he is but when are you planning to get any more tolerable than what you are? Why don’t you change your name to a more appropriate Kha-leed and eat some horse shit!

We don’t need to watch a film again and again t make it a hit as we have full confidence in the product we endorse. Yes I can see u giving us hints about watching the movie again because probably u all guys have not been able to boost the TRP ratings of SRK’s super-flop show called Panchwi pass despite it being aired free of cost. So i can understand ur plight which is nothing but a desperation since u have already experienced recently. Y the hell u & ur folks could help Panchwi pas(fail) show to get a TRP rating of 5 even? Shoot out At Lokhandwala was not bachchan’s film first of all and atleast we fans are generous enough to consider that as a Vivek-Sanjay hit. Not like u guys, who try to give credit to sep. appearances of actors if the film is a hit. For eg: Bhootnath has done 24cr+ business and is a Average proposition but it will be always considered a BIG B average film and not SRK’s. So if u go by that logic (Shoot out At Lokhandwala’s collection), then whatever happened to Krazzy4’s fate, we all know right. The saving grace being Hrithik’s item song, else SRK’s stupid pony tail dance (aka MJ) was a comedy and a shame in the name of dance. Thankfully he didn’t open his mouth there else the movie would have been a super-duper flop instead of super-flop which it is.

Having said that, let me also say that if Akshay Kumar manages to have two or three additional years with such super performance (while SRK just tanks, not absent, but tanks) than regardless of who else also shares the credit along with Akshay, he will be regarded as number 1. King of contests: SRK show tops TRP charts

NEW DELHI: So has television finally laid rest to the question - who is the biggest star? In a clash between Bollywood biggies, Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan and ShahRukh Khan, it is SRK whose game show Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain? that appears to be doing better, according to snap polls done by aMap in six metros.
the overnight audience measurement agency, aMap, has suggested that while Roshan attracted an average television rating of 0.82% for his music-based contest Junoon - Kuch Kar Dikhane Ka , Salman’s Das Ka Dum (DKD) could only garner a TRP of 1.65%.
Both were launched on June 6 after much hype and promotion. DKD promises an astounding cash prize of Rs 10 crore besides getting to watch Salman dance to his favourite numbers on the set.
Junoon , on the other hand, is a music show for which Roshan is a “goodwill ambassador”. However, SRK is not nicknamed King Khan for nothing.
His show Kya Aap… - that was launched on April 25 - got off to a better start. The quiz show enjoyed a TRP of 2.7 on the first day.
The show that evaluates the participant’s knowledge on information that a fifth class student knows, has dipped in popularity since its launch. Industry experts have blamed the low ratings to the IPL season that consumed public interest earning TRPs of 7 or 8.
Even in its peak rating, the Indian version of Are you Smarter Than A Fifth Grader? has beaten both Salman Khan and Roshan with a peak rating of 3.5%. DKD had a peak rating of 2.6 while Junoon barely managed a rating of 1.1.
Incidentally, Kaun Banega Crorepati 3 - another show hosted by SRK last year - did better than the three that are currently running. While its average rating was 3.4%, it had a peak rating of 4.9%.

FYI ,SRK charges the overseas rights of any film as his remunaration.And you must be knowing that None of SRK s movies collects less than 20 cr in overseas.

I belive you are in a stage of illusion.
In no mean way BIG B is competing with any of the current actors in Bollywood.Because he has lost his capacity to compete.
If at all there is any competition ,its within the Bacchan family themselves.
But yes,BIG B should be appreciated for showing resilinece even at the age of 64.
If only he chooses his movies more carefully and plays a second fiddle(Because his BO draw is absolutely negligible),he would get more respect and credibility.

Amitabh was indded the superstar and own hand down to any other actor you have menmtioned till 1985.After 1985 he has not given a solo superhit.
Aaj ka Arjun was a moderate hit and HUM became hit which was a multistarrer.
Amitabhs dominance ended in 1985 with Mard being his last solo hit.
After 1985 he was never a threat to any6body.
Reg the battle between BIG B and SRK,it was never there at the first place.
SRK is competing with Salman,Aamir.Hritik,AK in last twpo decaded.Amitabh was never in the race.He doesnt even come in top 10 .
For Amitabhs biggest grosser in last 10 years being sarakar(25 cr) .where as SRks biggest grosser OSO in last 10 years grosses 130 cr worldwide.So there never was a competition.
