RGV on the Internet Superhighway:
Two of the main reasons it took me so long to get on to the net are, firstly, that I am a complete net illiterate and secondly I never cared to. Not that there is a change now but I thought let me just try for once and so here I am for you to ask me questions, to take digs, to ridicule, to tell me how much you love or hate my films.
Films are just a medium. If you have an Idea which you want to express to someone else you can either talk about it or write a book or make a film or write a blog. The mediums might be different but it is the primarily compelling desire to share your ideas with someone else which motivates.
Then there is a difference between wanting to express and wanting to communicate. Expression I believe is a pure art form as it just projects an idea in a spontaneous and instinctive burst of creativity without having any motivation or an agenda and thereby there are chances that it can connect greatly to the receiver or can go completely over the head. It also can impress, irritate, offend, bore or completely be misunderstood depending upon the receiver’s sensibility, intelligence, background knowledge, state of mind and above all their own individual emotional journeys in their various experiences in life. On the other hand for the filmmaker too, the idea originates in his mind from the same factors mentioned above, with one primary difference – that his own might be vastly different than those of the receivers, and in many cases the filmmaker would not take that into consideration, sometimes intentionally and many times overlooking it.
Films by the virtue of their place have to be commercial art as various people’s time, money, effort and expectations are involved, and the filmmaker has to be responsible for the same.
Often I hear this question that ‘how come a filmmaker does not realize how bad a film he is making’. The truth is that the filmmaker will be the last to know how the film is shaping up or shaped up.
Many people don’t realize that a film is a collection of a series of decisions taken over a long period of time and each one of those decisions will be influenced by factors which are dominant that particular day. Factor’s will be as varied as the frame of your mind, what films seem to working, the reactions to each idea of your from people you are surrounded by etc. So by the time you finish the film and edit, it is highly likely you have completely forgotten the original intention and objective. When I see a film made by anybody including mine, more than the film I like to study the state of mind of the filmmaker at the time he made it and what could have been the original intentions behind it.
Many have criticized me for being highly callous in the making of my magnum opus AAG. The Truth is that I have never been more careful and passionate than in the making of any film of mine more than AAG although they have been employed in wrong direction.
I think the most careless I have been so far is in the making of SATYA. I did not have a Script or One Line Order with me on the day of the shoot. That is not to say that is what it takes to make a good film. It is pretty more complex than that.
I would like to use this platform to tell the story of how each film of mine came about to be made and why they turned out to be good, bad or ugly. Also I would like to share my various personal experiences which necessarily might not be made into films but nevertheless would give an insight into my filmmaking process.
I would like also like to share my reactions and thoughts on various current happenings/events to whomever concerned.
I would also like to put some video clips in here from various films of mine including the old ones and new ones and explain the psychology behind those. Above all I am supremely thrilled that I can now interact with all concerned, both who like and hate me and my films. So all you whoever care, just zoom in.

2.Life is to short or to long depend upon vission of perticular person. You are Big achiver. You achive lot in glamorous life now please do Work which give you internal satisfaction.

your understanding of human psychology especially of characters who are anti-social makes your movies standout, but don”t over do it, i can understand you might be doing it for monetary gains.
as for the horor genre, you seem to miss the point that the biggest fear one has is the fear of death, but showing these death scenes do not make a horor film,i feel the biggest horor film will be one where you show nobody is killed ,but audience are scared to see the movie the second time.

Hello Ramuji,
You are a GREAT Director! There is no second thought about it.
Though in a very small role, I was part of SARKAR RAJ and would like to be part of SARKAR 3. I spoke to the assistant directors of Sarkar Raj but was not able to get your phone number or e-mail address.
Though only for 3-4 hours, I enjoyed and learnt a lot on the sets of Sarkar Raj. Your planned, organized and thoughtful direction is awesome. Everybody on the sets was very disciplined and everyone treated with me with utmost respect. Appreciate and thank you for this.
Eager to hear from you.
With Regards,
Nishant

after satya you have failed as creative director. a 60 years woman can’t entertain as heroine like a 16 years girl. your concepts may like 60 years woman. but one thing….. still your presentation on screen technically is like a teenage girl. but not the concepts you have choosed. concept is the thing which shows major impact to design the movie.

Comment by Neo on 15 June 2008:
Dude, you suck, all your movies are just sick and twisted story lines. I started watching your pictures from Shiva, back then I was a teen and I have noticed so much voilence in my city because of your stupid movie.
You are very smart, you know Indian people can get carried away with watching movies, if you love your country, why don’t you make something motivational not freakn emotional and action all the time. If you do just like action, don’t use premitive action or crude killing, use some techinology like matrix something.
You have talent like Mani Rathnam, but both you can put your skills to better use than just making action & love stories all the time. Literally outside India, people think we one sick twisted individuals.
Grow up will you!
Comment by Sourav Saha on 15 June 2008:
Hi,
This weekend atlast I had a chance to watch to “SARKAR RAJ”. Frankly speaking it had really disappointing. I am not disappointed by the fact that you killed Shankar (Character), he was bound to die sooner or later. When a person starts following his heart more than his brain this what would be the result. After Avantika’s death you had protraited Shankar’s character as a lover boy, knowing the risk he carries in his profession, how can he start roaming freely with a unknown lady from America.
Seriously, when my friends told me that “Sarkar Raj” is no match for “Sarkar”, I didn’t belive then just because I had faith in YOU that you are the only director who can handle such complex plots easily. But to my disappoinment you proved me WRONG.
Have a small query for you- Are you planning to show “Ashiwaraya” as the next in line to SARKAR in your next sequel…if you are plz would request you to spare your fans from another embrassment.
Hoping to see a real RAM GOPAL VERMA movie very soon.
Regards,
Sourav

Hello Ramu ji,
I watched your movie SARKAR, but after few minutes I gave up, the movie is very slow and does not give the grip to the audience. As for Amitab Bachan, he is great as usual!! but Abishek… acting is not his field. So Please do not waste money and time casting him in Movies.
Aiswaria, yes, she has a beautiful face, apart from that nothing else, she has no charisma to attract people and lacks basic acting skills. Most of her movies are a big flop, if any of her movie has ever been successful it is only because of her co-star’s performance, either SRK or Hritik or Salman, on her own she is nothing as an actress.
YOu have produced great films, we have complete faith in you, but please, next time cast the right actors and good story..like RANGEELA, SARKAR..etc.
India has wonderful actors and actresses, you should exploit them, some one like Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor, PritiZinta… we have countless beauties and talents in INDIA, it is a OCEAN of talented people.
Comment by Manpriya on 23 June 2008:
Hello sir,
Sarkar raj was awesome. Hats off to you for that. The camera angles were marvellous. The one shot that was disappointing was the one which was taken from beneath the table when Mr.Abhishek and Amitabh Bachchan are talking abt the project. The best shot was the one when Rao Saheb is shown Somji’s dead body. Anita’s crying when shankar dies is my favourite. Mrs. Aishwarya Bachchan has done incredibly well there and some credit goes to you for directing her so well about the scene that we could really see her potential. She has done really well in the past but she can do wonders if directors give her something like this to do. Everyone talks about her beauty but apart from tht she is a great actress. I hope in sarkar 3 you overlook her beauty and give her a role tht shows her completely as an actress so tht the people who underestimate her really know what potential she really has. PLZZZZZZZ this is a request.
LOTS OF LOVE n LUCK for contract.

Personally I am happy with your films.
I would always expect a movie from you.
I would like to approach you, coz I want to become a director especially not like you. Because I cannot reach your level of success. I would be happy to be your kin in this regard.
