Ram Gopal Verma is still paying for making his version of Sholay. The brickbats from the critics have now been followed by numerous accusations on his personal life. We put the filmmaker on the dock to get some honest answers.

Ramu has been accused of:

Not paying child support.
Financially not supporting his wife, who has been forced to sell her home in Hyderabad to meet the educational expenses of his daughter.
He has bought a new Lexus since his car was damaged in the July deluge of 2005 in Mumbai.
Squabbles with Amitabh Bachchan on Sarkar Raj

Ramu’s response:
Accusation No 1:
There is no question of any payment, be it for any expense. I got divorced 10 years ago. All the money and property matters were settled at that time and there is no issue regarding my daughter education.

Accusation No 2:
Yes its true my wife Ahalya has sold her house. But it has nothing to do with me nor our daughter’s education. She has sold it for her personal reasons related to her brother and father. It has nothing to do with me or my daughter.”

Accusation No 3:
I have not bought a new car. I am still driving my Honda Accord of two years. I did buy a car, but that was for my wife. Contrary to the belief that my relationship is bad with my wife, I and my wife Ahalya share a good relationship.

Accusation No. 4:
This was the most ridiculous. We do not have any differences in opinion where film making is concerned. This has been spread by a tabloid after the journalist sms’d the same message to me and Mr.Bachchan regarding our so called fights about its distribution and promotional campaign. When we ignored the message, we read about our differences the following morning in that tabloid.

Put under the spotlight, Ramu, as he is affectionately called clarified all our queries. So now, we say, lets give this talented director a break so that he can create a master piece with his next, Sarkar Raj which will feature the Bachchans, Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya.
