Preity Zinta’s IPL team anthem is sung by Daler Mehndi

After Shah Rukh Khan, now it’s Preity Zinta who’s recording a song for her IPL team. The actress has roped in lyricist Jalees Sherwani and music directors Sajid-Wajid along with singer Daler Mehndi to do the song for her Mohali team.

Our source said, “Preity is very passionate about her team IPL and she definitely knows the business. This song will help pep up her team.”

Added the source, “Preity met music director duo Sajid-Wajid and signed them up. After numerous meetings with lyricist Jalees Sherwani they zeroed down on the theme song for the Mohali team.”

The music directors recommended that Daler Mehendi, who had worked with them in Atul Agnihotri’s Hello was the right choice.

Said our source, “Preity loved the idea of having Daler Mehndi sing the song and recently recorded it at a studio.”

We hear that Preity was so happy with the song that after the recording she gave a letter of appreciation and a gold coin each to music directors Sajid-Wajid, Jalees Sherwani and Daler Mehndi.

When contacted, Preity Zinta and Sajid-Wajid refused to comment.

However, Daler Mehndi confirmed the news though he refused to give details. He said, “Yes, I have recorded the song but I am not the right person to give the details. You should speak to Preity about this as it is completely her baby.”

Preity’s team includes Yuvraj Singh, S. Sreesanth, Piyush Chawla, Irfan Pathan and Ramesh Pawar along with some international players like Bret Lee, Mahela Jayawardene, Kumara Sangakkara and Ramnaresh Sarwan among others.

Meanwhile

Incidentally, Shah Rukh Khan is shooting the theme song for his Kolkata IPL team in Film City with an all-male troupe. Yes, he features in the song himself.
