Jodhaa Akbar Emerges First Hit Of 2008

After 2008 seeing failure after failure there is relief at last. Jodhaa Akbar has emerged the first hit of 2008. The film is not a universal hit but business is similar to the first hits of the last two years Rang De Basanti and Guru where both films succeeded due to strong business in certain areas.

Jodhaa Akbar has managed to do 10 crore nett business in its second weekend and this without Rajasthan and most centres of CP Berar and CI. The film is showing very good collections in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR and South.

The ten day business of Jodhaa Akbar stands at nearly 35 crore and it is expected to end its second week with business of 39 crore. The film’s business is much lower than the likes of Om Shanti Om and Welcome but considering all the problems and obstacles the film faced and is still facing, it is a great result for the team of Jodhaa Akbar.

    Jodhaa Akbar has grossed Rs. 74 crores (approx 19 million USD) in just 10 days worldwide … a record for a Indian film!

    Some key figures of the gross collections:

    · India: Rs. 52.70 crores (one of the biggest openings ever in Indian cinema)

    · US: USD 2.5 million = Rs. 10 crores (already one of the highest grossers of all time in the US market in just 10 days!)

    · UK: GBP 700,000 = Rs. 5.60 crores (amongst the Top 10 first 10 days for an Indian film in the UK market)

    · Gulf: USD 800,000 = Rs. 3.2 crores (amongst the Top 5 first 10 days for an Indian film in the Gulf)

    · Australia: USD 286,906 = Rs. Rs. 1.15 crores (already tracking to emerge as the 2nd highest grosser of all time in Australia)

    · Rest of the World = USD 380,000 = Rs, 1.5 crores

    Komal did not come up with the second week numbers.All he was talking about first week monday.

    and all knows that weekdays collections are always lower then weekend.

    May be some one want to see 3rd week also.

    JA collections are no where near all the hype and hoopla created by it’s team and production house…..

    It’s a pathetic take on one of moghul history’s finest transformational periods. After watching the movie, i was appalled by insensitivity of the director to do justice to the story/era.
    HR and AG are at their mediocore best. HR once again reminds people that he has risen to his level of incompetency (murphy’s law). He has a lot of catching up to do if he has set his sights high enough….
    JA reminds me of another big dud of the recent past, SaaBOREiya….

    Dude, are you referring to Dilip Kumar the actor or the other Dilip Kumar who mends shoes. I’m sure you are referring to the latter as HR is still in the process of learning to make shoes that are big enough to fit Dilip Kumar the actor. As of now, Hrithik at best, fits Ghisa hua Kolhapuri chappal…

    Jodha akbar is a super movie NO doubt And hrithik acting was also super. After seeing this movie all said hrithik will be the next king OF BOLLYWOOD
