So what’s the running time of the most-awaited film of the year — JODHAA AKBAR? While UTV and Ashutosh Gowariker have been keeping quiet about its final length, this writer has learnt of some facts pertaining to its running time.
The rough cut of JODHAA AKBAR was of almost 4 hours’ duration, which was brought down to 3.20 hours. However, the film may be trimmed further, thereby making the final length anywhere between 3 and 3.20 hours. Since the film is of epic proportions, it wouldn’t be possible to bring down its length below 3 hours, which means that the historical will be of 3 + hours for sure.
Await the official statement from Gowariker and UTV.

Listen guys….i dont know why but i feel that JA will be dissapointing…may be cause i hate ash or may be the movie hasnt impressed me much with its promos but whatever is the reason i feel like it wont work although hrithik would be awesome in it buttttttttttttt…..n another thing the film is not far from its release so why they arent promoting it enough??? even now i see the first promo on tv (may be its like this in uk)….but again i dont know why but i feel galde that SRK refused to do this movie when AG offered him while shooting for swades…well swades was amayzing but this one not sure…
I thnk if Adi had produced Swades it would had been a complete different movie
I saw an article where he stated that I dont like Srk’s performance in swades,i cant see srk doing swades
Even i agree on that Aamir Khan have great script sense and he choose according to his limits. He is the one who knws how to utlitize his talent to 100%.
I thnk Sohail khan have shown some signs,Im quite impressed by his music sense
The best thing about aamir khan is he knws how to utilize X person
I have high expectations from Ashutosh and JA. Hope JA isn’t another SaaBOREiya…..
As for HR, though a talented star, he doesn’t seem to fit Akbar’s role. Though the good part of HR is his ability to surprise people with his performances. Hope JA is one such work.
Ashu has made a novel/ bold move by choosing recreate one of the great periods of the moghul era. It definitely is not every director’s cuppa tea. Very few in bolly can make a success out of such movies. Note that even someone like oliver stone couldn’t do justice to the Alexander saga.
Though the timing for JA couldn’t have been better. We see a huge mass of hungry audience willing to grab anything good/average thrown their way. ‘Welcome’ is a shining example of it. It was a surprise blockbuster apart from other back to back big hits in the second half of 2007….
Aish, on the other hand, i’m sure would’ve done a great job in JA. She’ll fit the role beautifully. She thrives in such roles but unfortunately needs a Bhansali to get a good deal out of her….
Wish Ashu, HR, Aish team a great success!!
Well, i liked Swades as a concept…. It was quite a bold movie. Unfortunately, as Ashu is still evolving as a director, he couldn’t do justice to the script and SRK. He lacks the finesse and usually needs some guide/mentor. Aamir proved to be a perfect one for him in Lagaan. Unfortunately, SRK is too humble and paranoid/ inexperienced (directorially) to meddle with the director’s vision and hence i don’t see that he did much to complement Ashu in Swades.
Hey ppl, dont u hav ne trust on Gowarikar? Mark my words, JA will be amazing, so will be Hrithik. I am sure Hrithik wud have done a gr88 job.
Gowarikar has done a lot of pre production work before starting this flick. Yes the movie is long and that is the only disadvantage but I am sure JA will be liked by ppl inspite of its little long length.
Javed Akhtar is one of the very few who has seen the flick and when asked about his take on the film he said, “Jodhaa Akbar is the mother of all Bollywood Films”!!!
