The height of exercise
Akshay Kumar walked up the stairs of the Q-1, the 80-storey residential tower at Gold Coast, every night after shooting
On the sets of Singh is King in Gold Coast, fitness freak Akshay Kumar found a unique way to make up for missing his gym routine. He decided to exercise by walking up and down the stairs of the 80-storey building every day. In fact, his enthusiasm was so contagious that even coactor Sonu Sood joined him on his daily workout.
Akshay and Sonu were staying at Q-1, the tallest residential tower in the world.
Says our source from the sets, “Akshay and Sonu would walk up the 80 storey building every night, after pack-up. When we first heard, we didn’t believe it. Eventually, we had to believe it after seeing them do it.”
When contacted, Sonu Sood confirmed the story. He says, “Yes, I did join Akshay on his walk up and down our 80-storey building. Initially, when had he told me to join in I was bewildered. It seemed like an impossible thing to do. The first two days were very tough for me. I did it only for a week. Akshay however, did it throughout the schedule which lasted for a month.”
So, how did they cope with this strenuous physical exercise? Sonu explains, “Akshay had a physical trainer called Jenny who was helping him out with the stunts in Nikhil Advani’s upcoming film. After every few flights, she used to make us do some special stretching exercises. It worked wonders, making all the pain and the stress go away in minutes. It would make us feel lighter in a short span of time. She said that it was a perfect substitute for the gym.”
Producer Vipul Shah confirms the news and says, “Akshay and Sonu had decided to scale new heights in fitness. It was a very, very tough thing to do but they did it. “
