It’s a meteor shower of stars at the BO this Friday

Bollywood serves a period drama and a collection of 10 stories this weekend.
Madhuri’s comeback Aaja Nachle might not have exactly been a box-office bonanza last week, but this week’s releases promise to be different. A period drama and a collection of 10 stories strung into a single film, here’s a look at two of this week’s big films.
Khoya Khoya Chand
Director Sudhir Mishra’s period drama Khoya Khoya Chand is the filmmaker’s ode to the Hindi film industry of the 50s and 60s. The film brings back Mishra’s Hazaron Khwahishen Aisi actor Shiney Ahuja as Zafar – a young writer and filmmaker who is in love with an aspiring actress and diva-in-the-making – Nikhat.
Zafar takes it upon himself to free the lovely young actress from the clutches of superstar Prem Kumar played by Rajat Kapoor. Heartaches, passion and tears under studio lights mixed with ego clashes and scandals involving reel icons and studio bigwigs form the backdrop for this film produced by Prakash Jha.
The lyricist, musician team of Swanand Kirkire and Shantanu Moitra recreate the lilting music of the golden 50s and 60s to add to the mood of the film.
Dus Kahaniyaan
It’s a win-win weekend for Sudhir Mishra who’s also one of the six directors of Dus Kahaniyaan. As the title suggests, this Sanjay Gupta and Sanjay Dutt production, comprises 10 different stories. Apart from Mishra and Gupta, Meghna Gulzar, Apoorva Lakhia, Hansal Mehta and Rohit Roy, each have a story to tell.
A starry line up with the likes of Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Vidya Balan, Bipasha Basu, Soha Ali Khan, Arjun Rampal and Dia Mirza, this movie hopes to strike a perfect 10 at the box-office.
Even the film’s soundtrack has been set to tune by four music composers including Bappi Lahiri and Anand Raj Anand. The themes of the 10 stories vary from marital discord to strange encounters to fantasy.
Another treat for film buffs would be to catch veteran actors Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi share the same screen space once again after a long time.
