Grosses 10.50 crore approx from 650 cinemas in week 3. It may well emerge the highest grossing film ever. BLOCKBUSTER.

That means 75 crores….excellent..people can criticise srk,they can hate srk…but they cant ignore him …

My estimated range:

3rd week nett = 11-11.5 cr
4th week nett = 6.0-6.5 cr
5th week nett = 3.0-3.5 cr
6th week nett = 1.25-1.50 cr

Total of 4 weeks (3rd week to 6th week) = 21.25 - 23 cr
Total of remaining weeks (After 6th week) = .75 - 1 cr

So OSO total nett collection = 65.65 cr + 21.25 - 23 cr + .75 - 1 cr = 87.65 - 89.65 cr

So, my estimated range for OSO nett collection is approx 88-90 cr.

Kamran: BOI two weeks’ nett collection for OSO is 65.65 cr while IBOS two weeks’ nett for the same is 54 cr. However that 83 cr amount is D:2 total nett collection according to IBOS. And IBOS forgeries with non-AB jr. movies is another story. U can easily ignore such a biased and a puppet source (Bachan and co.) like IBOS.

Though BOI D:2 figures are 2 cr more than IBOS i-e 85 cr but still we trusted BOI becoz it’s the most trust-worthy source for Indian boxoffice figures.

Dhoom 2 collection was 85.48 crores & OSo’s is 81.24 crores now. If it continues to fall at this rate it will cross dhoom2 at the week 7. In overseas, it has already passed dhoom2 by a huge margine. Now it is 3 crores away from KANK. But incluiding overseas & india, It has already emerged as the biggest grosser of Indian Cinema.

What we are discussing here is ***nett*** collection after deducting tax from gross collection and that also from India.As of now it stands at 81.24 crores (till 6th Dec)

OSO gross collection has already crossed 100 crores.

It stands at approx 106 crores ***gross*** collection from India and 148 crores ***gross*** collection worldwide(including India) (till 6th Dec).

at least 51.2%drop in 5 week so it had collected atleast 2.35 crore so totals becomes 83.60 crore and extra prints has been added to om shanti om so it might collect atleast 2 to three crore in 6 week if om shanti om get 2 crore it will became 85.60 crore so it can easily break dhoom2 record in next week

I dont know why people are comparing OSO to DHOOM2. The biggest grossing film of all-time inflation adjusted is SHOLAY. 200 crores+

Sanjay, please don’t bore us. Sholay’s collection is 200 odd crores today because it is more than 32 year (1664 weeks) old film where as OSO is just 6 week old film. OSO will break all records in some time.

Boxofficeindia.com did not display preliminary nett India collection figures for 5th week for OSO this time.

But yes kamran, from indiafm.com,the fall in 5th week for OSO is 50%….therefore the total 5th week nett collection from India should be around 2.4 crores…total nett should be around 83.64 crores after 5 weeks for OSO…it should take at least 2 more weeks to cross Dhoom2 gross from India.

Well Sanjay,

There are different mediums by which a star colllects their remunaration.A star like SRK always gets a hefty percentage of his Overseas BO earning in addition their normal remunaration.And everybody knows how much SRK can earn from his overseas collections.

Secondly pls do not go by all these unconfirmed media reports of 40 Cr for AK.When non of his movies ever have grossed more than 53 Crore(Bhul Bhulaiya only crossed 53 Cr)how can he take 40 CR for a movie.It doesnt make buisness sense .Right?It doesnt make any moral sense for akki to accpet the remunaration also.

Yeah its true that SRK,Akshya and rajni kanth are amongsts the highest paid.No body really knows who is highest paid of them .

let me clarify Sholay only collected 15 Crore in 1975.As per the Inflation adjusted figures are concerned it now stands at 150 Crore not 200 crore as told by you.

OSO has alreday collected approx 130 crore till date(85 + 45 cr oversaes).
In 6 weeks 130 crore is quite and achievement .right??

According to wikipedia the overall collection of OSO worldwide is $37,606,447 (Rs. 147,41,72,722) in merely four weeks. The fifth week collection in india is 2.31 and with global collections of fifth week, it has already crossed 150 Cr.

D2 Weekly earnings were approximately as follows:
Week 1: 35 Cr
Week 2: 22 Cr
Week 3: 10.5 Cr
Week 4: 5 Cr
Week 5: 2.5 Cr
Week 6: 1.25 Cr
Week 7 and Onwards: 9.23 Cr
Total: 85.48 Cr Approx

OSO Weekly earnings are as follows:
Week 1: 40.19 Cr
Week 2: 25.45 Cr
Week 3: 10.85 Cr
Week 4: 4.79 Cr
Week 5: 2.31 Cr
Total: 83.59
Although OSO earned approximately 8.5 Cr to 9Cr more in the first three weeks but the percentage drop in Week 4 and 5 was little more than D2 drop rate. However with the increase in the number of prints in Week 6 OSO will cross D2 in Week 6 or 7. OSO might end up with 90 to 95 Cr in total. However in accordance with Indian Newspapaper OSO has done a global business in Australia, Belgium, Luxembourg, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, UK, USA with a total of 50 Million Dollar in Week 6. Thus overall collection in all parts of the world have come upto 50 Million (Rs. 198 to 200 Cr Approx). In terms of overall business worldwide OSO has already become highest grosser of all times.

so the total would become 85.10 crore and only 50 lakhs are left to cross the dhoom2 only 50 lakhs

and if the films drop around 60% in week 7 it will be able to cross dhoom2 record

oh common 60% drop is unlikely to be happen

and ishallah it will do it in next week

Om Shanti Om is now only 7 lakhs behind Dhoom 2. Accordind to Indiafm in the week from 14/12/2007 to 20/12/2007 Om Shanti Om has fallen only 24.53%. If we go through this information, Om Shanti om’s collection will be about 1.8 crores in this week.. That makes the neet coolection of OSO about 85.41 crores. I think it will overtake OSO’s record in 21/12/2007 & It’s neet coolection will be about 100 crores. So, every SRK friend let’s wish & pray for the best.

Indiafm reported only 24.53% fall in 6th week for Om shanti om…OSO does exceptionally well in 6th week…this was expected…should be around 1.8 crores nett collection from India for OSO in 6th week touching Dhoom2’s records in India.

I cant beleive there are some idiots on this forum that are actually mentioning Sholay and OSO in the same breath. Sholay is the greatet blockbuster produced by india ever.

The collections will never be equalld and no film will ever reach close to those figures. Even boxofficeindia has got the net inflation adjusted figures wrong. how long are they going to keep those figures for? 100 years. They hardly change them. There will come a time in about 10 years where indian films will be crossing 100croes in 1 week. Sholays figure should be adjusted accordingly.

The true figure for sholay inflation adjusted is somewhere in the region of 400 crores.

When sholay was released ticket prices were 2 rupees at single screens. Bigger and better cinemas the ticket prices were 10 rupees. There was no such thing as multiplexes like they have today where ticket prices are over 200 rupees or 300 rupees. Can you see the difference?

Lets just assume that the average ticket price was 5 rupees for sholay then, yet it still made 15crores in its first run, and eventually reached 30crores on repeat runs. 30crores from an average 5 rupee ticket.

Todays average ticket is lets say 100 rupees. Thats almost 25 times more than what the average was back in 1975.

To get the correct inflation adjusted figure of sholay you need to 15crores*25.

The figure is a mind boggling 375crores!!

No film in today will ever reach 375 crores NET. Please dont compare a lousy film like OSO to Sholay. Sholay was a phenomenon that will never happen again.

The biggest HIT ever is Sholay.

It made 15 crores in 1975. The average ticket price was 10 rupees to go to the cinema, that same ticket would now cost 200 rupees at a multiplex.

Thats nearly 20times more.

So if we take 15crore Net in 1975 and multiply it by 20 you will get a figure of 300 crores.

The boxofficeindia inflation adjusted is incorrect, even the ibos figure is close but still not 100% correct. The true figure is around 300crores.

To understand how big sholay was then is like a film making over 300crores in todays cinema.

You need to understand that whatever OSO has picked up is basically due its publicity truck. Both the directors and producers of OSO and Sawariya realised that the movies are going to be a big flop which not only will suffer big losses but the image of so called SRK (the choice of the mass and without any class)… so they had to play nasty tricks to drive the crowd to the theatres just for curiosity. OSO might have earned a lot of money due to that but if as a movie it is nothing but a STUPID movie.

Hey! Sholay was a movie of 1975. Dharaminder felt the loudest at that time and Amitabh also got recognition. Now it is 2007, people should think of today’s movies. It does not matter people set the inflation rate based on the cost of ticket. Leaving cost per ticket or revenue per ticket. But it matters that Sholay earned 15 Crore at that time and became the best movie. Now OSO has collected in excess of 86 Crore and OSO has become the best movie of the year. As Dharminder felt the loudest at that time, Sharukh is feeling the loudest this time. But both are good movies even critics also said this. Some important facts about OSO, other than its worldwide collection of almost 200 Crores. Eros, who has OSO’s distribution rights got increase in almost 75 Crore on its shares in Stock Exchange, the day movie was released. Also another important thing is its music. It is on top for many weeks and earned in multiple of crores with its music album. Now that WELCOME and TZP have realeased the collections for this week will be very low and is going to be taken off most screens.

Sholay is the biggest sucks of all time. The movie was hit because there was Veeru (Dharmendra) & Gabbar Singh (Amzad Ali). Some Amitabh lovers think that the movie was a hit because there was Amitabh. But it is not true. Because if it was real then AAG should be a blockbuster. But real picture is that AAG is not only the biggest flop of 2007 but one of the biggest flop of Indian cinema.

On the other hand, In Om Shanti Om it is SRK all the way. There is no other Class A actors in this movie.

I want to say you that Titanic’s collection was 1800 crores (Worldwide) & it is the biggest hit of English cinema. But if we go through inflation then it will not be the biggest hit. But everyone believes & say that Titanic is the biggest hit of English cinema.

In the same way, Om Shanti Om’s gross collection is about 209 crores & neet collection is about 140 crores (Including India & overseas) in only 7 week & is the biggest hit of Hindi cinema, not Sholay.

Adjusting for inflation for Sholay and then comparing it with OSO is silly as Sholay is 32 years old now and OSO is just a few weeks old weeks old….
Also remember that in Sholay Dharmendra and Amjad Khan were the true stars to make it a hit. Amitabh, Sanjeev Kapoor, Hema malini, and Jaya Bachchan had only partial role in making it a hit. For OSO, SRK was the only one. Deepika was a new comer. Arjun Rampal was a flop star who’s never delivered a hit.

All those badly stinking anti-SRK guys, take a break. All your barking will in no way diminish what OSO has achieved. And considering that OSO is not a special movie, it is an even bigger achievement for SRK to make a average masala movie like OSO such a big hit.

My prediction is that in 5 years time some movies will make around 100crores NET in its first week. Cinema is growing at a fast rate, this does not mean the movie is an all-time blockbuster, just a reflection of how cinema is growing.

True blockbusters stand the test of time. Movies like SHOLAY, MUGHAL-E-AZAM are the true blockbusters. Not bogus films like OSO which will be forgotten in a few months.

Message to all SRK fans. Is SRK a national icon like Amitabh was in hie heydays?

Answer it a big NO!!

Reason being his films only run in multiplexes. Go to single screens in small towns across india and his films dont run. This is fact for people who understand the trade. In rural india SRK movies do not mean anything. Love stories where the hero cries over the herione are laughed at, in these places the hero has to be larger than life where he beats up people and comes across as the hero.

Rural india and small towns consist of 80% of the india population. The majority of the population live there.

SRK movies only run in multiplexes in big cities, Places like Bihar SRK has no takers.

The last indian movie star that had all india appeal which cut across the rural/urban divide was mr Amitabh Bachchan. His movies were a rage in small towns and villages where the public wanted the hero bashing up the villains, he was also a rage in the urban centres.

I think the media in india has projected SRK to be a superstar of india but in reality this is far from the truth. He is just a media creation. The reasons why his films make money is because urban india and multiplexes have ticket prices over 400 rupees thus his films work. I Challenge all SRK fans to go to Bihar in a small town and go to a single screen and see how well a SRK starrer is welcomed.

This truth may hurt a lot of SRK fans but as they say the TRUTH hurts. SRK is not an all-india star. His main market is urban centres and NRIs who live abroad.

After Amitabh Bachchan stoppd playing the hero in the early 90s, the biggest all-india star has been crickter Sachin Tendulkar. SRK does not come close.

Also another fact. SRK impact on the industry is minimal he is just another star alongside Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan. He is in a group of stars that are succesfull, personally speaking i think the real KING KHAN is Aamir Khan who does not rely on cheap publicity stunts like going to cricket games and wearing a Tshirt of his films name to promote his movie.

If we were to analayse impact of superstars of yesteryears SRK will look like a weak star.

Dilip Kumar : His acting style changed the way we looked at acting in india. He introduced method acting which was never seen before in india. Every actor ater him has been inspired by him in some way.

Rajesh Khanna: The hysteria he generated was unlike anythng seen before. The word SUPERSTAR was coined for him. SRKs stardom will not be even 10% of what Rajesh Khanna saw in his heydays.

Amitabh Bachchan: He changed the face of indian cinema. period! his injury on the sets of coolie bought the whole of india to a standstill! no actor will ever enjoy this popularity ever again.

If we look at SRKs impact?? WHat do we say? There is nothing to say…He is just another actor in a group of actors, hrithk, Aamir, Salman. Who only appeal to a certain audience, none of these stars have all-india appeal!

Kamran Azam if you dont know who Rajesh Khanna is then you are not worthy to debate with.

Rajesh Khanna in his days was the biggest thing to hit india in the early 70s. The stardom he enjoyed was only equalled by Amitabh Bachchan in the late70s.

Shahrukh Khan can only DREAM of the stardom enjoyed by Rajesh Khanna in the early70s. He was the FIRST superstar of indian movies.

But i do agree that Rajesh Khanna was bigger than SRK in his glory days. My parents have told me this. But i dont beleive he was the biggest ever star. The biggest ever star is without doubt Amitabh Bachchan.

how can u compare yesteryear stars with today’s??? There was a whole different audience at that time, and there is a different one now, almost like 2 entirely different industries. If Big B was still young, and doing main leads, then you cud compare him to SRK, and if SRK was in his 30s-40s in the early 70s, then you cud compare him to Rajesh Khanna. SRK is biggest star of today, Big B was the biggest star at one point, so was Raj Kapoor, and so was Rajesh Khanna, in my opinion, they’re all equal.

o, and adjusting for inflation is wrong, look…in hollywood, Gone with the Wind (adjusted) is the biggest hit, but everyone still considers Titanic the biggest hit. I don’t think adjusting for inflation is really valid, it really tampers with the numbers.

well amjad i beg to differ from you.

We cant rate who is te biggest.certainly jnot Amithbh for sure.He ruled from 1973 to 1985.a span of 12 years.Where as SRK is ruling fro 93 till date.14 years and still going strong.

In my opinion Big B,SRK are the biggest stars followed by Rajesh khanna,Dilip Kumar

Well Rajeev you need to go to boxofficeindia.

And see who dominated the industry the most.

According to boxofficeinia AB dominated it for 17 long years. He was No1 Star during this reign. Forget no2 or no3. He was the undisupted No1 star from 1975-1991.

SRK reign has been interupted by Hrithik Roshan, Salman khan and also aamir khan. His has been no1 star for only 8 years. But the non-stop no1 star for only 5 years.
This cannot be compared to Dilip Kumar or Amitabh Bachchan who dominated the industry for over 15 longs years NON-STOP!!

Also from the list it shows that Rajesh Khanna was no1 for 3 years. But it is a historical fact that he was the FIRST SUPESTAR of indian cinema. His stardom cannot be compared to any actor today, the only actor who equalled his stardom was Amitabh in the late70s.

Today no actor can ever acheive the hysteria he generated in india. This is a fact that is acknowleged by every actor today, even SRK will agree with this.

Dilip Kumar got on top 8 times for Best Actor Award
SRK got on top 6 times for Best Actor Award, 1 Best Debut Actor Award and 1 Best Villan Award
Amitabh got on top 4 times and 3 Best Supporting Actor Award

However SRK and Amitabh also got 2 filmfare critics best actor award. Dilip Kumar and Amitabh got filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award. Amitabh got Filmfare Power Award one time while SRK got it 2 times. Although Amitabh was not considered the best more than 4 times, however in getting nominated for Best Actor, Amitabh is on top.

Boxofficeindia states that AB was the biggest superstar for a non-stop run of 17 years! 1975-1991.

This record will never be broken.

SRK has only been the no1 star for 5 years.

There is simply no comparison!!!

This is not me, this is from boxofficeindia site which is always biased towards SRK. Even they could not deny this.

Its a shame that SRK was interuppted by Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Sunny Deol who took his stardom and shared it with him.

This again proves that SRK is not a megastar like Amitabh Bachan was in his heydays.

Regarding awards? Who cares about awards everyone knows that they can be bought, why do you think Aamir khan boycotts the awards. Filmfare awards can be bought for money!

The true indian filmi awards are the NATIONAL AWARDS, SRK has won ZERO awards.

Ahmad is may have also escaped your attention that AB was banned by the filmi media for years. It is no surprise that he won NO filmfare awards from 1978-1990. This was the time when film magazines like Stardust, Filmare, etc joined hands and banned him he boycotted them in return.

It is no conicidence that when the ban was lifted in 1991 he won the filmfare award for HUM in 1991. This proves that these awards are pathetic and do not mean a thing.

How on earth can Nusreeden Shah win popular awards in an era where AB was no1-10. Impossible!!

Filmfare awards suck bigtime. I admire Aamir Khan for boycotting these pathetic awards.

SRK has not been ruling since 1992 this is a lie. According to boxofficeindia these are the stars that have been dominating since 1992. Top star for each year.

The fight is not that Rajni is better or not.

The hot topic on every discussion forum is Amitabh is better than SRK or not, Hrithik is better than SRK or not, Aamir is better than SRK or not, Akshay is better than SRK or not, Rajni is better than SRK or not, ……… etc.

So fight is not that Rajni is better than SRK, the fight is that SRK is not good. and thus SRK is a hot topic of discussion.

Why he is so much popular because 50% (for example) of people LIKES him and watch his movies and shows etc and he is also popular because 50% (for example) people DISLIKES him but watch his movies and shows. So 100% people (i mean the movie watchers) watches his shows and movies and He has become a super star, King of Bollywood. So now if people say that SRK is not good and they want to watch him even then they are making his stardom bigger. Not only the people who likes him want to see his work but also the people who dislikes him.

Other than that it is a fact that SRK is a very good and refined actor and King of stars (Whether you like him or not)
