Director Anurag Basu confirms that his film starring Hrithik Roshan is now shelved

It was a deadly combination. After the success of Metro, there were reports that Anurag Basu was making a film with Hrithik Roshan.

Apparently, papa Roshan was quite impressed with Basu’s work and wanted him to work with Hrithik. However, things haven’t worked between the talented director and the actor. Sources reveal that the Hrithik film with Basu has now been shelved.

Not as planned

According to an insider, Rakesh Roshan wasn’t too excited with the role Anurag had in mind for Hrithik. Since it was the first time Hrithik was to work with Basu, Papa Roshan wanted something meaty and substantial, which would allow Hrithik to display his skills as a performer.

A source from the Roshan camp reveals, “There was speculation that Hrithik was to work with Anurag for the Metro sequel. But wasn’t true. Basu wasn’t planning on getting Hrithik for the sequel. He planned a totally new film with him. But things didn’t work.”

Basu refused to divulge the exact reason why the film was scrapped but confirmed the development over a SMS, “The Hrithik film is not happening.”

Metro sequel can wait

When contacted Rakesh Roshan denied that Anurag had walked out of his home production. He simply said, “It’s not true.” The buzz is that Roshan is in talks with Basu for another project for his banner but the film won’t star Hrithik.

So what happens to the Metro sequel,  “Basu is keen to do it but he doesn’t want to tamper with Metro by rushing into the project. He would rather wait than jump into it,” concludes the source.
