OSO beats D2’s record, collects 41 crores Nett in 1st week

OM SHANTI OM:  Record breaking first week business of around 41 crore nett from 850+ cinemas. 

Om Shanti Om has simply seen an incredible first week at the box office. It has set new first week highs in every circuit of India and never have we seen so many theatre and city records broken by a single film.

 

The first week circuit nett billings are just huge as Mumbai crosses the 16 crore mark, Delhi/UP has touches 7.50 crore and East Punjab is around 3 crore. The all first week all India business is around the 41 crore mark.

 

The film has gone into second week with all its theatres in play. Shockingly the biggest of films loses digital screens in second week but Om Shanti Om goes into week 2 with 440 digital/UFO screens which is the same as first week.

 

The second week will also see the film smashing records.

 

SAAWARIYA: Decent first week business of around 20 crore nett from approx 650 cinemas. 

Saawariya had a great weekend but collections fell badly from Monday onwards but due to a good three first days the film has managed to get to around 20 crore over the week but it looks very doubtful that the film will recovery costs.

 

The way collections have begun in the second week the film will struggle to do 30 crore nett business and will be a losing fare. It has done its best business in the Mumbai circuit.

    The second week will also see the OM Shanti Om smashing records & Saawariya will be seen to fall down. I think OSO will collect neet 57+ crores (32+ crores in India & 25+ crores in overseas)& Saawariya will collect neet 9+ crores (8+ crores in India & 1.5+ crores in overseas).

    I agree,i am even bigger fan of SRK than before only because the amount of hard work he put in for the promotion of his movie .

    He is the guy who talks his talks and walkks his walks.

    In an interview he said “” as a producer its my responsibility to destroy them(SONY)”

    And yes he did exactly that.Destroyed them squarely and fairly.

    Now they (Sony and SLB) would lick this wound for decades.

    Mansoor: IFM gave the numbers of only those centres which give reports to them and that are even far less than the half of the total number of centres. If u check the IFM first week numbers for D:2, they are approx. 18 cr but actually the D:2 earned 35 cr in its first week. And for OSO, they give approx. 17 cr. And number of centres, that IFM mentioned for OSO are far less than the number of centres of D:2 given by IFM. For example, Jab We Met earned approx. 9 cr in the previous week, but IFM only gave 3 cr collection for JWM, because the number of centres given by IFM were very less. So, its all upon the number of centres reported to them.

    SLB wants people to beleive that he is a intelligent filmmaker and that his saawariya was a work of Art and hence no match for OSO…but Mr SLB you forgot a very basic thing…Films are made for audiences…and from what i see there are none to see or appreciate your film…so Admit it….SRK Rulezz !! OSO no doubt a masala film has got thumps up from the audience..grow up SLB … Hard work needs to be appreciated… Chak De OSO !!

    Folks, some people are saying that OSO is more of a naach-gaana sort of film (though i beg to differ and would categorize it as a entertainer)…… In spite of what i think, if you look at OSO purely the way those naach-gaana categorizing people look at it, i would say SRK has clearly done an even more commendable job - MAKING SUCH A ‘NON-INTELLIGENT’, ‘NAACH-GAANA’ (as some people are trying to categorize OSO) SORT OF MOVIE THIS MASSIVE A HIT IS A TREMENDOUSLY COMMENDABLE JOB WHICH SRK HAS CARRIED ON HIS SHOULDERS BRILLIANTLY. HE HAS DONE THAT IN SPITE OF THERE BEING A SO-CALLED ‘INTELLIGENT’, ‘ARTY’ MOVIE TITLED SAAWARIYA (this is how those naach-gaana categorizers would categorize Saawariya though here again i beg to difer) WHICH WAS RELEASED AT THE SAME TIME WITH A MUCH BIGGER MARKETING AMMO……
    GIVEN ALL THAT SRK TRULY HAS SHOWN WHO IS THE KING OF BOLLYWOOD………

    US boxoffice :: 8th day :: 2nd friday collections
    In their second Friday “Om Shanti Om” crooned $222,000 from 117 theaters over Sony’s “Saawariya” which only peeped $37,000 from 85 – a 75% drop from its opening day.

    To date, “Om Shanti Om” has made $2.4 million ($2,400,000) in US while “Saawariya” has grossed close to $700,000.

    So now after the record breaking opening week, OSO is all set to become the highest grosser…….

    How many of u knew abt the brands…..or have tried any….

    3)NOKIA …..i have got the ringtones and OSO Crazy mobisodes…..the one with SRK in the south indian avtaar is awesome.

    There is a scene in the movie where Om Kapoor (Shah Rukh) is standing on a bridge, which has various hoardings around it. Now, these are no ordinary or bogus hoardings. From Sia to Shoppers Stop, Maybelline, Nokia and Tag Heuer, all the brands have been intelligently and naturally showcased in that scene. Of course, Tag Heuer’s is the largest hoarding and is in fact one which is normally put up as hoardings across the city.

    As per ad. booking info. according to multiplexes tuesday is looking better then monday. in delhi even 7pm 8pm shos at pvrs are 75% full in ad. booking. bombay’s morning & noon shows has no ad. booking & evening shows are 20% booked in advance.

    I think next week will be better than D2, today is about 70% so if we can get about 55-60% over the week it would give us 25-27 crore. After that its hard to say. I think we have 75% chance of crossing D2 and 25% chance of failing
