BOI:OSO IS BIG but gross are less than last year Biggies

Om Shanti Om has opened to an earth shattering 95-100% response smashing records all over. The film was released on around 600 single screens and set new first day highs on nearly 500 of these 600 screens. The multiplexes saw near 100% collections but the grosses are not as high as last year biggies as it only managed to get 8-10-12 shows as against the 14-16-18 that other biggies have managed. This was due to the clash with Saawariya which took up a similar amount of screens at multiplexes.The reports are very positive from all parts of the country and the film will become a huge all India hit. The opening day in Delhi/UP, East Punjab, West Bengal, Rajasthan and Mysore was humungous as single screens went over capacity at places. The first week should see may more records being crushed.

In Overseas the film managed to collect around 125,000 pounds yesterday in UK.

    Let me explain Mansoor. Lets take the last year biggie D:2, which had the same craze as OSO but as it was a solo release so the it was succeeded to manage 14-16-18 shows. But as OSO has a clash with another biggie Saawariya, so obviously the number of audiences is divided, so OSO has to be contented on 8-10-12 shows. But this short damage is compensated by the number of prints. Because OSO is released on approx 900 cinemas while D:2 was released on 700 cinemas last year. Also the collection for OSO is 95-100 %, so hopefully, its nett first week total will be more or less the same as D:2.

    Mansoor: As Eros, OSO’s distributor, was negotiating hard with multiplexes for a better share of ticket sales, it didn’t book the slots for OSO. Other film makers/ distributors who were releasing their films at the same time or those who already had some shows running started pushing multiplexes to allow them fill the show slots that were reserved for OSO. Eros did not budge on the percentage of profits/ ticket sales it wanted from multiplexes till the last 3 days before OSO’s release. Meanwhile, Bhansali also managed to negotiate and get some additional slots for Saawariya. Under immense pressure from other film distributors along with the worry to fill the OSO’s reserved slots in case Eros did not share the rights led to multiplexes giving away some of OSO’s slots due to which the no. of OSO shows per week in multiplexes got reduced. Hence that statement on the reduced no. of shows for OSO at multiplexes…..

    the above report is misleading.Although grosses might be less than the D2 especially in multiplexes but OSO has released in more screens.

    Its opening week collection is going to create new history and smash all exiting records.
    Mark my words and just wait till next friday.

    bt saawariya it was slb worst movies nt he is nt getting succes.he deserves it .but wat for oso its such a crap movie n only because of srk it is becoming hitttttttttttttttttttttt.by this way farah wi;ll nt get a lesson and the standard of bollywood is let down.if some foreigner sees this movie he will say wat a drama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1.in the ending of the party the shandiliar falls on arjun rampal..then it cmes again on the top?does the aatma of deepa repair it send it at the top again??
    as reincarnation and that aatma vaatma stuff is the theme of the film i will nt qustion that!!!!!
    2.in the filmfare awards it is made fun of the (phir bhi dil hai nri n main bhi hu na).but does n’t arah khan realise that oso is also that type of naach gana film????????/

    3. in the song main agar kahoon .they start dancing in a big globe.(kkk i got it it was a dream sequence)but afterwrds srk starts singind suddenly in the voice of sonu nigam and deeps starts taking rounds n showing teeth..y suddenly???????

    4. n last i just want to confirm that when the new srk is born does the aatma frm the old srk get transferred to the new one.(if yes then wat a drama!!!!!!!!!)

I will restrict my questions only to some of the big films of this decade (ones that i have seen. I may have not seen many others.). Since you think Hrithik is very good, i will focus my questions on his latest movies…..

    1.Can you tell me how Hrithik Roshan manages to fly (or jump like he’s flying) in Krrissh?

    2.Can you tell me how can there be aliens and how did they come on earthas they showed in koi mil gaya? How can there be a scapeship that travels from one planet to another?

    3.Can you how Hrithik became a superhero when the alien touched him in Koi Mil gaya?

    4.Can you tell me how Hrithik manages to jump on top of a running train in a desert in dhoom2?

    5.Can you tell me how Hrithik jumps out of the drain unhurt in Dhoom2 and then skates his way to glory outpacing a helicopter??

    6.Can you tell me why in dhoom2, Abhishek (being a cop and knowing that Hrithik is a criminal) does not nab Hrithik inspite of coming face to face with him quite a few times? Anywhere in the world, the moment they see a suspect (in this case, a ‘global’ thief), they always nab him and then interrogate him to prove his crimes. Why that is not done here? In the end, why is the biggest thief let free by a cop (abhishek) who’s supposed to be so talented and sincere. Especially when the cop knew where he was!!!!

    Can you answer these questions?

    Like you don’t have specific answers for them, the same way, some movies are meant to entertain and not preach…..

    Om Shanti Om is the biggest opener of Indian film era. Om Shanti Om is also the biggest opener for a Hindi cinema crossing KANK in Overseas. It has income 1.52 crores in USA & about 92 lakhs in its opening day. I think it will cross Dhoom2. Because it has about 2000 prints worldwide (about 1300 in India & other 700 in overseas)(Including digital prints), in the while Dhoom2 was relesed with 800 prints (Including digital prints)worldwide. Om Shanti Om has already earned 25.54 crore (neet collection)in just four day. It is about 9 crores behind Dhoom2’s first week neet collection. 3 days are still left. So i Think OM Shanti OM will overtake Dhoom2 in India & KANK in overseas in very near future in total groos & neet collecton. At last I think Om Shanti Om’s first week neet collection will be about 72 crores. (42 Crores in India & about 30 crores in overseas)(Gross collection will be about 210 crores)

    Saawariya is not doing good in USA & UK which are Sony’s homeland. I think, In the Saawariya’s first week neet collection will be about 25 crore (20 Crores in India & about 05 crores in overseas.It may collect his expenditure in near fure. I think it will be average hit.

    I think OSO will cross Dhoom 2 & DDLJ in neet collection in near future & Saawariya will be a average hit.

    IBN 7 came out with the news that OSO collected 95 carores…… thats unbelievable, stupendous, infact overwhelming.

    That is one obscene amount…

    They also said that even Saawariya bagged 60 carores…

    can Indian film market actually swell upto 160 carores in 3 days??????

    I understand that UK and US figures are also included which are mind boggling, but still it means that domestically OSO has crushed every collection record there was

    in the world’s finest movie LOTR, Gandalf fought with fire dragon on the highest mountain of the lowest dungeon, Volcano has been errupted in LA in movie Volcano…. in Armageddon a team of drillers landed on a meteorite, drilled a nuke in the centre and blasted it…. now whatever it means…

    While watching movies you gotta surrender yourself to the director’s vision, not everything has to make sense, its just if you walk out of the hall smiling or banging your head….

    Even in the cult movie like CDI it was never explained how Indian team qualified for WCs with such rag tags…. there was straightaway a WC and a new coach….

    As far as your last question is concerned… by your name I am guessing you are Hindu… and thats exactly the concept of reincarnation… your soul or aatma remains the same… your body is changed just the way you change your clothese everyday in my case every week or even month….

    I think OSO was a great entertainer… I remember the hall being completely jam packed… all families, something which I never saw for a long time…. infact apart from Shahrukh Khan and to some extent Akshay Kumar no one can bring in the families to theaters….

    Entire first half people were rolling yeah the second half was over acted by Shahrukh in playing the spoilt brat but when he gets back his identity movie again gets momentum as far as end is concerned that was totally out of the world… tell me how many imagined that????? I guess everyone 100% of the people were surprised but if you say illogical then this whole world of cinema is that
