If the backlash during theatrical screening of RAM GOPAL VARMA KI AAG wasn’t bad enough, now the DVDs of the film have come under the ‘fire’ too. Pun unintended!
Though the home video version is out on the stands at a throwaway price of less than Rs. 50, consumers aren’t quite getting a kick with the film’s picture and sound quality.
“I hadn’t seen the film at theaters but wanted to give it a try at least on DVD. To my horror, the picture quality has turned out to be pretty below average. In fact I checked out the pirated version of the film later and it was seemingly better than what I found in the original copy”, cribs a consumer.
“First and foremost it took me quite some courage to watch the film, especially after all the negative reports around it. Later when I sink into my couch, I am shocked with what I see. Not only the picture quality poor, even the sound has a lot left to be desired. Imagine yourself deprived of the true Dolby sound; the least one expects from an original DVD,” rues a director (under condition of anonymity) who has just delivered a box office success.
FENIL SETA’S TAKE ON THIS TOPIC:
Ram Gopal Verma is not to blame here. It’s T-Series Home Entertainment who is responsible. When Moser Baer Home Video stormed the market with VCDs at Rs. 28/34 and DVDs at Rs. 34/49, T-Series people merely copied them and thus started selling their VCDs at Rs. 38. But Moser Baer VCDs though available at cheap rates has excellent picture and sound quality. But as the rates of T-Series VCDs came down, their quality too came down. The same thing is evident in the VCD of Darling, which is also available at Rs. 38 and is of poor quality. Also, the new VCD pack of Salaam-E-Ishq available at Rs. 38 consist of only 2 VCDs! How can a movie of more than 3 1/2 hr duration fit in just 2 VCDs? I am sure, they must have done heavy editing to fit the entire movie into 2 VCDs.
My only piece of advice to T-Series Home Entertainment is that dont just copy others. You are reducing the price of your VCDs/DVDs and those VCDs are of poor quality. Does it make any sense? So next time, when you introduce a new VCD in the market at low price, make sure its of a superior quality. Or else, keep the price above 100. A die-hard movie buff will happily buy the movie CD, irrespective of the rate. But at any cost, we dont like compromising with the quality.

loved ur observation
I bought the DVD of RGV ki AAG and it seems Tseries have just pirated the film from a theater print….the video n audio quality is horrible….i want my money back from tseries…shame on them for dupin the audience of its money for marketing cheap film DVD’s…..
same thing,
I purchased the DVD of AAG. The soundquality of the DVD was too poor.in the label it was written as 5.1 fake dolby. I didnot watch the film, after hearing the sound from the dvd. It was too noisy like an analog recording. Why these people are cheating the customers. The theatre print of the film has asuperior quality sound than this msater DVD..
Please do not repeat this one in the next release..
