26-year-old engineering graduate Mudassar Aziz tells us that the inspiration behind Sushmita Sen’s character (Shimmer) in Dulha Mil Gaya is Barbara Cartland’s romantic novel, A Heart’s Desire. In the same breath, he adds that the film wouldn’t have been made, had Sushmita said rejected the offer. On Sushmita

“I met Sush on the sets of Zindaggi Rocks. She was wearing a beautiful gown when she lifted the skirt and jumped over a two-foot barricade to come across to the monitor to check a shot!

When she saw me staring, she smiled and said, ‘I know it’s not a very ladylike thing to do’ and that was it. I’ve been in love with Sushmita since.

Shimmer’s character and the fact that her staff have names like Lotus and Jasmine were written with Sush in mind. I couldn’t imagine anyone else doing that role.

It took me four hours to narrate the script to her and at the end of it she had tears in her eyes. That’s when I knew Dulha Mil Gaya was going to happen.”

Shah Rukh Khan told Viveck he would do the film even if he didn’t like the script!

When he heard the narration, he came up with a few suggestions and wanted to understand my approach to his role (Pawan Raj Gandhi).

Once he knew I was clear about that, he was full-on.

Even though I’m a first-time director and he knows so much more about filmmaking, he never interferes.

I used to call Fardeen FK Sir, but he prohibited me from calling him that.

He said he’d refuse to give the shot and cover the camera with his hand if I called him that.

FK’s mischief

Today, he’s FK to me. People don’t know his mischievous streak.

Every time I would describe a shot excitedly to him, he would say with a grin, ‘It’s okay. Yeh pehli film hai na!’ ”
