Aishwarya Rai has opted out of Karan Johar’s untitled production, to be directed by assistant Tarun Mansukhani.

The film was to star AbhiAsh, but now Abhishek’s Bluffmaster! co-star Priyanka Chopra has quietly stepped in.

Ash had originally committed to being a part of the film but backed out when she got the bound script. According to an insider, the film has a very sexy vibe and that’s what made her change her mind.

But after she got a detailed narration, she changed her mind. She explained her point of view to me and I respect her decision. We then spoke to Priyanka. She was happy to be part of the film and we are happy to have her, so it worked well.”

Karan assures us that he isn’t disappointed over Ash’s turnaround. He says, “It happens. You plan a movie with one person in mind and then someone else ends up doing it. When you see the film, you’ll understand why Ash could not do it,” he adds.

Insiders say Ash’s decision to drop the film will be seen as another chapter in the Bachchan-Khan war. It’s been widely speculated over where Karan’s loyalties lie, as he is close to both sides but KJo isn’t losing any sleep over this.

He says, “We are too close to allow such things to bother us. I’m regularly in touch with Ash and Abhishek. She made a professional decision and you have to respect that.”
