Chak De India Is A Hit: Boxofficeindia
After the the below expectation results of Ta Ra Rum Pum and the debacle of Jhoom Barabar Joom, Yashraj Films are back and have resumed dishing out hits with Chak De India.Chak De India got an average opening but it was clear by the Friday evening shows that the film would do well and the collections on Saturday just confirmed that. The all India average opening on Friday stood at around 60% but on Saturday and Sunday the collections were 90-100% at major centres. The smaller centres did not zoom up but still did well enough to hold their collections. The film has been released on approx 400 cinemas all over India with a major chunk of the screenings in metroes and A centres..
The film held rock steady on the dreaded Monday with collections of 60-70%. There is expectation of the collections to rise over the weekend again as there is appreciation for the film from the public.
Chak De India will emerge a hit or better in Mumbai, Delhi/UP(UP is only fair but Delhi/NCR is strong), East Punjab, CI, Nizam and Mysore. The other circuits will depend on how well they sustain collections from here on. But it’s unlikely to have a losing circuit as even Bihar may notch up 18-20 lakhs from the 7 prints sent to the circuit.
On an all India basis the first week nett business should come in the region of 17-19 crore. The approx breakdown of collections are Friday-2.35 crore, Saturday-3.40 crore and Sunday-3.75 crore giving it a 9.50 crore nett gross for the first three days.
Overseas the film has disappointed with its start but the makers expect it to hold its collection well into the second week.

Frankly speaking Indian Box Office Results matter more than Overseas and in India it is doing very well. Paheli did well in Overseas, but what it gained nothing. The end result was that Paheli was termed Flop by Media and Trade.

The latest is that it has been fairly steady yesterday, that is the dreaded Monday , where almost all movies fall or even crash. Its quite steady at 65-70 % , which is considered excellent by trade!

The Budget of Chak De India is 20 Corers according to Komal Nahta.
komal says 20 cr but it has been publicied as 24 cr.
When you are righting Box Office Column you should be sure what you are writing. For Trade it is 20 Corers not more than that. The person who wrote 24 Corers has written Wrong, you can confirm it from Abid.
From Day 1 Abid is saying it is 18-20 Corers and in the end it will be Published 20 Corers and the person who has said 24 Corers is wrong.

ibos has actually been very supportive.they have admitted that CDI picked up after a slow start.i guess indu mirani(rediff)n taran may go against it.
Taran will talk about Overseas and will match it’s Performance with Previous Yash Raj Movies. As for Indu Mirani nobody takes them seriously.
taran may jump into a conclusion saying that CDI has failed in overseas.
komal will give the best judgement abut its performance at BO.he matters to me the most as he is very strict in his classifications.
Taran has been Proved 3rd time Wrong in Predicting about Shah Rukh Khan Movies. 1st Devdas, then Don and now Chak De India. Only for Swades He was Right.
swades he was very superficial in his approch.it did flop but the way he presented looked like a disaster.17cr infact is flop in srtict classifications but will be an average fare if u become little liberal.so swades was not that bad as taran thought it to be.
Taran also wrote Open Letter to Ashtosh that the Movie was Bad. Swades Opened around 90% and He said that 1st Day it was 20%-30%.
mustafa u r totally wrong.it never opened like that.had it opened like that it woudl have been a sure shot hit.it did open around 50% in major centres but was 10-20% in small centres.but it didnt pick that much even after some excellent reviews.
Amod Mehra Rated Swades as Average. Even in my Books it was Average, but according to people my Rating is Liberal.
Oh typing Error it was 50% in Big Centers.

DON has never done a 100 cr as far as india is concerned.it earned 50 cr at indian boxoffice.Chak de india has a realistic chance to do a 40 cr india which is a solid hit considering its low selling price.it can even do more if it sustains really well from 3rd week onwards.now it looks set do a 40 cr minimum.
if saif got national award for hum tum then shahrukh certainly deserves for CHAK DE INDIA
