The following differences are just very hard to ignore:
- With the sun, moon and the stars aligned in his favor. With the attention of the entire country and the media focused on him. With a tailor made role in a relatively well made movie, Big B failed to save Ek Ajnabee from flopping at the box office. Whereas with the whole world and the media on behalf of Big B trying to sabotage him. With a major movie, J-E-M as a head on competition, SRK still managed to make Don a major hit.
- Big B’s controversial love story, Nishabd floped so badly that it had less than 30% audience in the halls on its opening day (most halls had less than 10% audience). Whereas SRK’s controversial love story, KANK, broke opening week’s record. It is one of the highest grossing bollywood movies (worldwide gross, i.e. domestic + overseas).
- After milking the novelty of a fool proof show, i.e. KBC, Big B cowardly abandoned it as soon as the ratings started to slip. On the other hand inspite of the rot that had set in thanks to Big B and the fact that the novelty had worn off, inspite of all the negative press, SRK embraced the challenge and resuscitated KBC.
- Big B’s best friend (like a brother) is Amar Singh, a flop politician who a lot of Indians consider to be sleazy. Whereas SRK’s best friend (like a brother) is K Jo, a highly respected filmmaker who a lot of Indians consider to be near genius.
- Big B exploited his leading ladies, Parveen Babi and Rekha. Whereas SRK made his leading ladies his family friends.
I can go on, but what is the point. The difference is very apparent in the quality of their achievements. There is a reason why SRK is on top of everyones goto list. There is a reason why all advertisers flock to him.

4-ofcourse everybody hates amar singh but then we have nothing 2 say as long as amitabh thinks singh is the right person to guide him.its bit personal u know.
5-i dont think amitabh had ever exploited parveen n rekha.it was the ladies who were interested.

how can u comapre a small movie like nishabd to that of a monster kank?i agreed both had controversial stories but it is not atall fair 2 compare both.i do agree srk was the biggest name in kank but you guys have to admit amitabh n abhishek have their own fan base.then of course there is preity n rani.so all of them together in one movie was bound to attract crowds in big numbers.where as nishabd had nobody other than amiatabh who is not what he was in 70’s n 80’s.i dont think a nishabd with srk would have opened that big.yes it would have opened better than it actually opened but not anywhere near 2 a kank or a don.look , to be honest srk has not been really managed 2 get a big opening for movies where he has tried something different.despite swades being brilliant movie it didn’t open well.so we can’t just say srk will pull crowrds in big numbers irrespective of what the content of the movie is.it definitely has to do with the kind of movie he does.thats y i wont be surprised if chak de india opens 2 average numbers.

check your facts man.out of 49 movies srk had done so far 16 are hits,4 are semi hits,1 above average, 3 average,and 3 below average,so in total the success percentage is coming around 63% which is very good , ahead of his contemporaries.i am just talking abut india only .overseas will be a different game alltogethere.dont have to say who rules there.

u talked about stardom age another wrong fact srk major stardom started from 96 onwards and he became big after the arrival of multiplex era its hardly 10 years bib g lasted for 20 years starting from janjeer.

SRK is the biggest star of the Hindi Film Industry , recent news is that the the distribution shares of Om Shanti Om were sold for about 4.75 crores [correct me if I am wrong] , which are more than Shivaji the Boss.

I agree with someone who sais that Don , inspite of great competition from big stars like Salman and Akshay , inspite of negative reviews [especially from anti SRK webs] managed to do whopping business of 50 crores , very near to RDB’s business . Don opened to thunderous response collecting Rs 24 crores in first week . One will never believe that its adjusted net is very much bigger than the old one .
If there are multiplexes , then whats SRK’s fault. Then you can say Dilip Kumar or Rajesh Khanna were not stars as there was Colour Cinema . Its just foolishness to say that .
Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra are the names with whom entire film industry tries to work , arent they great directors , one of very very few directors who had given their first film an All Time Blcokbuster [DDLJ , KKHH ]
Another point , if you are wanting to compare , SRK has two all time blockbusters DDLJ and KKHH ,which can be called as only his hits [ here if you say that they were hits due to Kajol , only God can save you ] while Amitabh has only one All time Blockbuster that’s Sholay , which too had the biggest star of that time Dharmendra .
KANK did gripping collections of Rs 46 crores , any rejected film will never do that . And and , SRK was better than Big B in every film they did together , Mohabbatein , K3G , Veer Zaara , KANK ….
SRK had no godfather , please respect him and his struggle , and see where is this guy , who completed the whole shoot of Deewana living in a chawl and travelling by auto .

There was a Movie Called “Vidhata” wherein the Legend Dilip Kumar and The Great Actor Sanjeev Kumar were cast together, When the Movie became a big hit and some of critics tried to compare both saying “It is Dilip Kumar’s Show altogether, Sanjeev is no where around him”
Sanjeev Kumar’s reaction was very simple:

Amitabh got several opportunities, He proved his point at a particular era, He is still here in Bollywood to add up his acting prowess to any Bollywood Project, He is an ace actor, should not be compared to Shah Rukh Khan.(considering the huge generation Gap)
SRK or Shah Rukh Khan is a greatest actor of his generation i.e. Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar etc., He has learnt a lot from the legends like Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan without even making them aware of this, He incorporated their best qualities in to his acting skills.

Big b has more success than srk. srk’s name should be stupid real khan. i hate that ugly farah khan who does films only for srk. chak de india and om shanti om are very stupid films i have to leave the cinema during intermission. srk good for nothing. he is not king khan but he is king kong the king of the jungle. srk is now ageing. big b is the best no one can be compared with him. there is no one in bollywood there is only Big b. Yes Amitabh is great and he has worked for 49 years in Bollywood but unluckily with no Solo All Time Blockbuster and no Solo Blockbuster. I pray for him to give atleast one Solo Blockbuster and one Solo All Time Blockbuster in his 50 year in Bollywood.

So, is he has given flops like Guddu, Zamana DiWana, Oh Darling…., Chahat and many more, the he is also not a certain superstar if u were to judge AB’s flops, okkkk u morons.
And who says AB is not a verstatile actor…He has played comic roles (Chupke Chupke, AMar akbar Anthony, Mr. natwarlal), anjeer, Sholay, Deewar, Hum), Intense roles( Bemisaal, Jurmana, Khuddar, Adalat, Yarana, Do Anjaane), romantic roles (Kabhi Kabhi, Silsilaa) , Dacoit role like Ganga Ki Saugandh and even baghban which was a superhit and only because of him. SRK has done romantic roles and only them…. In Darr, he copied Nana patekar. I remember his death scene in Army we was hamming big time…like aaaeee sala, oyeee salaa…hahaha..and all the people in the cinema hall were literally laughing…Guys, do u call this bullshit acting? Tell me which film of AB makes u laugh, atleast hs is appreciated as an actor and not a cheap Bhand like SRK. SRK is not a path on BIG B and comparing SRK with him is a national shame. I am great fan of BIG B.But most of your arguments are not correct.BIG B has not given a singe clear hit since Mohabbatein.
“”Waqt, Aankhen, Kaante, Ek Rishta, Cheeni Kum, Sarkar”" None of these movie were hits.All of them were avg collectors at the BO.
Secondly we all know that BIG B was one of the greats .But the point is he is no more a BO icon as he used to be .Infact he has lost his magic since 1986.Afther that he haS NOT GIVEN A SOLO HIT (aaj kA asRJUN WAS AN EXCEPTION) .
Now lets come to SRK.OUT of last 4 Blockbusters none of them was a romantic movie.All were different from each other.TO discard SRK at this moment is sheer foolishness (its like not accepting reality)
As things looks now and looking at the coming projects he is set to rule at least for 5 more years without any competition whatsever.(BIG B is never a threat anyways).

Even i agree with you in certain points reg Sholay.Sholay is a credit of Salim javed.Although we cant discount the contribution of BIG B in the movie.But the real hero of the movie was AMJAD KHAN as Gabbar Singh.Its gabbar singhs dialoguies are itched in the public memory than anything else.
Then i do not understand why some people do not recognise the fact that SRK s net contribution to BO is more than 2000 Crores which no other actor in the past have achieved.
He leads the vote count in all most all forums (TV channels ,Magazines) as far as highest no fan following is concerned.
He is a great human being with a killer sense of humor.He is intelligent and true role model for the youth.He earns more than anybody in the industry ,pays taxes in time.Where as BIG B is served notice by IT Deptt almost every week.
BIG B ,is also loved.But people have to understand that he is no more a superstar he used to be .He is not an important person AS SOME PEOPLE project him to be.
At this moment he is nort even in the TOP 10.His movies Bomb left right and centre.
For all, Dil Chata hai was never a hit.It was a avg earner and only collected 16 cr.Where as DON collected 54 cr in INdia and 32 cr abroad.

Amitabh Bachchan as an actor,is far better than most of his contemporaries actors (incl. many of the parallel cinema actors). so there is no comparision between him and SRK. SRK is like Jitendra of 1975 to 1990 but with a very good communication skills as well as links with the big boss in the industry. He has done few new and good stuffs sometime but he is not even 50 % of Mr. Bachchan as an actor. He definitely has very big mass appeal and is smart enough to choose his roles, market them properly and stand tall to get awards. Otherwsie, he is far below in acting skills compared to Amir khan, anil kapoor, Akshay Khanna and same applies to Mr. Bachchan as an actor.
Pl. don’t be biased based on just look, caste, market values while judging an actor. Dilip kumar is definitely in top 2-3 actors in this country ( and list has sanjeev kumar, balraj sahini, OM puri, Naseer, Manoj Bajpayee).
WE SHOLD make realistic comparisions and be clear on which basis we are giving grades to these stars although in any case nobody (SRK or BigB or Dilip kumar or whatsoever) would help us in meeting our day to day life’s need. Its their job to create enough hype to keep themselves selleable and make money for their family and same kind of responsibility we do have.

While saying, same applies with Mr. Bachchan does not mean he is infarior to Anil, Akshay khanna or Amir But ” He was smart enough to set his trend but in his era also, there were actors better than him”.
Who Can forget Rajesh Khanna of anand, Namak Haram ; Sanjeev kumar in Trishul, Sholay, Arjun Pandit, Vidhata ; Anupam kher of Saransha and Karma; Kamla Hasan of Nayakan, Saagar, hindustani and many more; Dilip kumar of Shakti, Mughle azam.
So choosing a successful start and being good at acting is altogether a different area. There are actors who are very talented but does have know-how of selling themselves in Bollywood. What a role Manoj bajpayee did in AKS, Mr. Bachchan was nothing in front of him. Look at Abhishek Bachchan in GURU and YUVA, who can believe that he is the same guy who did Tera Zadoo chal gaya.
Its all director’s power to make a start an actor or Superman but there are actors who prove that he did the best possible for the role at hand.

Hey guys, I have been reading all this a while…I couldn’t resist myself in jumping in the bandwagon…
First and foremost, your targetting BIG B is not at all justified. I know this gentleman called zuzu is not liked here, but most of the things he said about BIG B is very very true. Come on guys, you can’t just say that BIG B was not all that great, he has been a ruler and was aptly named “One man industry”. He could act, he could do comic roles, he could fight, he could even sing his songs with such ease in his prime. And mere presence of his in films used to be the saving grace for a mediocre film like even Nastik. I know it as I have seen it all. Today the times have changed, there is so much publicity campaigns, so much active media that even when a certain young boy falls in a ditch, it becomes a news. And media has played a great role in making SRK the superstar that he is today. But BIG B was media shy, vero introvert (he even banned media in his heydays, that’s because he could afford to do that), but still he ruled. That shows what command he had in the industry. And please AAA is not known by Vinod Khanna’s film, it’s very much AB’s film as he was the soul and heart of the film.
I also have been an ardent fan of his since a long time, although my loyalties have switched over now to Aamir and Akshay, but certainly not SRK. Come to think of it, he doesn’t appeal to me as an actor. He is a good marketing man and he knows the pulse of the audience, but let me also add that whatever he has achived so far has been appreciable. And again to sustain this till What BIG B has been able to (to some extent i.e. at the age 65+) needs some acting skills for him. SRK is not a good actor. Let’s face it. He usually overacts, so to say even his wife likes Aamir. He has limited scope as an actor. The only movie which I have liked of his was Chak de and that’s becuase hs was subdued in it.
Now for the trades…Well I can’t mention anything in figures as Rajeev did…but let me tell you that when old DON was in the making, the producer of the movie passed away leaving his wife and kids helpless. And all the actors then…Pran, AB, Zeenat decided to forgo their share of money/salary and give it to the deceased family. That was great jesture in those times. And certainly the movie was anyways completed and it went on to become very successful. But obviously , you can’t compare the commerce part with today’s DON or for that matter biggest flop of today’s times, since it would have made more money than old DON (considering the rupee value now and then). New DON is liked because of its slick style, not because of SRK. BIG B is still remembered as the original DON.
Anyways, I am sure there would be lot of you who would disagree with me esp ardent SRK fans and may even swear at me, but BIG B definitely scores over SRK in all departments of acting. God Bless you all!!!
SRK rules…you can compare SRK’s Don with AB with Aag. SRK’s Don was 5 times better than that remake of Sholay. Even Paheli was better than Nishabd and Cheeni Kum in box office comparisons. SRK is the only person who can match the old Sholay with DDLJ. Yes AB had alot of hits in the 70’s and 80’s like SRK had tons of hits in 90’s and so on.
AB is also losing to other actors, back then he can do the serious action, dramatic, and drama roles. Even Salman, Hrithik, Aamir, and other actors can do those areas as good as AB like he did in the 70’s and 80’s. At this moment SRK is at the top of Bollywood and he is going to get better as time goes by.
Bollywood fans is losing interest in AB and needs to retire.
