Bobby deol finalized for Apoorva Lakhia’s next to be produced by Suniel Shetty

Apoorva Lakhia, whose directorial venture Shootout At Lokhandwala became a smashing hit at the box office, has been signed for Rs 1.25 crore to direct his next flick ‘ Mission Istanbul.’ This new film is being produced by Sunil Shetty and not by his producer friend Sanjay Gupta, who had produced Shootout At Lokhandwala. Apoorva Lakhia wanted Sunil Shetty to act in the Mission Istanbul but the macho actor preferred to produce the film rather than act in it.
As a source close to Shetty says, ‘ Apu ki to nikal padi. Rs 1.25 is a huge amount of money. He has been working really hard without tasting success for far too long.’ As Sunil himself praises the director, ‘ I am all for directors who are passionate about their work, like David Dhawan and Priyadarshan. Look at the promos of David’s Partner and you will know what I mean. Apu is now in that bracket. I do not want to comment on how much I have signed Apu for. Let’s just say that I am paying him what he deserves.’
In fact, Sunil Shetty had signed Apoorva Lakhia even before his Shootout At Lokhandwala was completed and released. Sunil was very much impressed with his style of working and research going on in the making of the film. He had the opportunity of observing of Apoorva’s style of functioning as he was also acting in Shootout under his direction. At some point of time, he even acted as a counselor to Apoorva when the problems between Sanjay Gupta and Apoorva cropped up during the making of Shootout.
Before hitting the jackpot with Shootout, Apoorva Lakhia had made two films Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost and Ek Ajnabee but the response at the box office was not very encouraging. Hence, they did not make any difference to the career of Apoorva as a director of bollywood. But now when Shootout has become a smash hit at the box office, he is being counted among the new breed of successful directors and being offered huge amount of money as his fee.
Apoorva Lakhia’s next venture ‘ Mission Istanbul’ is based on the network and modus operandi of terror outfit Al Qaeda of Osama Bin Laden. The film will have four main heroes but till now only Bobby Deol has been finalized. The film will go on the floors in October this year and is expected to be completed and released by May 2008. To give a realistic look to the movie, it will be shot in Turkey, Afghanistan, Srinagar and Mumbai.
