Now, Mr. India 2

IANS-Boney Kapoor making ‘Mr India’ sequel with new director
By Subhash K. Jha, Mumbai, March 11 : Producer Boney Kapoor returns with part two of his 1987 mega-success “Mr. India” and Anil Kapoor and Sridevi, stars of the original film, may team up for the sequel.

No, Shekhar Kapoor won’t direct it. But Nikhil Advani has been approached.

Admits Nikhil: “Yes I’ve been sounded out. Boney and I have had preliminary meetings. It would be an honour to continue the ‘Mr India’ story. I can’t see myself being anywhere near Shekhar. And yes, I can’t see a ‘Mr India’ sequel without Anil Kapoor and Sridevi.”
Will Sridevi make a comeback in “Mr. India Part 2″? Boney isn’t averse to the idea.

“It’s a good possibility. I feel Sri is looking her best and ready for a vehicle. But it has to be vehicle worthy of her, and ‘Mr India’ is certainly something she would be proud to do,” Boney told IANS.

Ever since his “No Entry” turned into a surprise money-spinner for producer Boney, he has been lying surprisingly low.

Boney enjoys the joke.
“Isn’t that ironical? When my films weren’t doing well I was releasing films almost every other month. Now, when I’ve a solid hit I’ve chosen to withdraw and gather together my thoughts, make sure that my finances and creative departments are fully operational before launching into the next.”

His next production will be a sequel to “No Entry…” again directed by Anees Bazmi…
“But funnier, more savvy and crisp,” said Boney.

Speaking on his departure from South Indian remakes and his progress towards sequels Boney clarifies: “I agree sequels are now doing well. But, I had decided to do a sequel to ‘Mr India’ long ago. And the minute ‘No Entry’ worked I was all for a sequel.”
